Had Jimmy White won the World Championship in 1994, would ISIS have still been able to sweep through parts of the Levant in the mid 2010s?
The White-Hendry rivalry split the nation, but also had further reaching tendrils.
It is widely believed that mistrust between Shia and Sunni Muslims reached a nadir when Hendry defeated White in 94 leading to an irreversible schism and tension between rival clerics which reached boiling point soon after. An inevitable escalation in tensions in the Middle East End followed.
Who knows now but sometimes it can be interesting to speculate on historical moments of the past.
Are there any other instances when a snooker match affected world events so profoundly??

Ken’s WC win in 97 apparently put a complete halt to all crime in Dublin for three hours.
