Do average shot times increase as a tournament progresses?

Postby GR8GUY

Hi Does the overall average shot time increase as a tournament progresses? I would have thought that in the later rounds there would naturally be the better players remaining and shots would be more carefully planned increasing times taken. I haven’t seen any stats for tournaments with average shot times per round. Is this something that’s captured? It’s to settle a debate as I thought the times would naturally increase by round but brother dismissed this theory. All thoughts welcome

Yes i would have thought so, although i suspect there are more bigger breaks usually as well in the latter stages which would decrease shot time.

Trouble is snooker is not very good at publishing official statistics, even simple things like frame and match times arent usually teleased even though WST records it all electronically.

If statistics were published all sorts of analyses could be done.
