GOAT

Postby Holden Chinaski

Was just wondering, who is the greatest snooker player of all times? :chin:

Discuss.

Re: GOAT

It's Ronnie Sullivan and this is coming from a big Stephen Hendry and Judd Trump fan.
I would say when Ronnie defended the world title in 2013 was when he confirmed that status in my opinion. Some people could argue he may have been a few years before that.

2nd greatest of all time is the one the only Johnny Bravo

Of all time? Or all times, in all alternate universes?

Times. This is the ultimate GOAT debate.

It’s still Johnny.

No-one has illuminated snooker over such a long period like Ronnie has. We are lucky to have such a divisive, enigmatic figure like Ronnie in the sport. Imagine if he hadn't been there? Long live the king.

Hendry. When he was at his best he produced a sustained standard that no one else has quite produced.

O'Sullivan. When he was at his best he produced a sustained standard that no one else has quite produced. And when that was over, he still continued winning world titles. That's how good he's been.

Pink Ball

The resident 'witness for the prosecution'. It's an old tactic. Pretend you dislike a player and keep elevating him to a status they never reached. It never fails to convince the ill informed.

Ah, I was wondering how long it would take you to resort to this one. But seeing as this is the card you've now had to resort to, I will indulge you...

I have no dislike for O'Sullivan or Hendry. I quite like both but am largely ambivalent towards them both as people. I hold both of them in the highest of esteem as snooker players, they are/were both exhilating. I make no secret of that.

But I have no skin in the game as it were, no strong feelings towards either as individuals, no biased reason to elevate one beyond where they should be and push the other down undeservedly. This is not the case with you, as we know.

Your opinion isn't any more valid than anyone else's opinion. You need to climb down from your ivory tower. Believe whatever you want. As Blondie used to sing 'Dreaming is free'.

Yes it is. It's more valid that yours as it's backed up by evidence. You know, like people who believe in climate change and how their opinion is more valid than the opinion of those who don't?

Evidence?!! Lol!

My sides are splitting!

Surely someone has told you by now that what you write is codswallop. And you cannot even blame alcohol!

Your opinion isn't any more valid than anyone else's opinion.

Thank you Vodkadiet, but I am not a Mastermind and never will be. I am simply a person who questions his own belief, regardless of whether or not it goes against what I want to be the truth.

I would probably do better than anyone in a round with snooker as a specialist subject, though.

The opinion that Bagely is the GOAT needs no proof.

Re: GOAT

Ronnie always talked about his practice sessions with Hamilton and how high quality it was. Hamilton confirms here.

Anthony has always been a good breakbuilder from what I've seen so he should have done more in his career. But you could say that about a lot of other players as well I suppose.

Re: GOAT

Nobody dares to practice with J Bags.
