I stand corrected. I didn't realise he was in fact akin to Bono. My bad. Apologies.

Well at least he's like a Buddhist compared to that Barry guy who always gave out about stuff incessantly and aggressively (but thankfully he seems to have left the forum)

Not the first Christmas he's spent doing that either.

I didn't know about this year, but he has spent previous Christmas Day's helping out at a food shelter to serve warm, cooked meals to the homeless.

Like most of the good stuff that he does, that you don't read about, he doesn't talk or brag about what he was doing. I only found out after seeing a photo on Laila's Twitter from the charity thanking them both for helping out on the day.

So if he can keep finding his ways to food shelters why couldn't he find the time to attend Alex Higgin's funeral?

He didn't have to go to the funeral.

Maybe he didn't like him. I didn't like him. Therefore I didn't go to his funeral.

No one has to go to any funeral, I think at the time many felt that the correct and respectful thing would have been for him to attend though.

I'm sure dozens of players didn't go. Why would O'Sullivan have to go? They clearly weren't that close.

Bit different, I haven't heard you praise him in numerous interviews about how Higgins keep the game alive and basically made it possible for players to earn a lot of money in the future.

Re: Ronnie

I think feeding the homeless is more important than attending the funeral of someone who wasn't at all pleasant. Personally speaking, as someone who couldn't be fussed doing either.

I think the general consensus at the time was that because of the reasons I have stated previously and with Ronnie being the most prominent player at that time that it would have been right for him to attend, whether you agree with the rationale or not, they seemed to be the reasons why.

Well if anyone did bother interviewing me, I would say all that. I would also say that Higgins was a deeply unpleasant person and it sure as hell didn't cross my mind to attend his funeral.

I understand the point of view that Higgins was a complete reprobate, just saying that Ronnie used to talk about him in such glowing terms, maybe that's what gave the impression to people that he may attend.

Re: Ronnie

It just seems like a really bizarre thing to pull him up on here in response to someone pointing out that he feeds the homeless. O'Sullivan has done plenty lamentable rubbish over the years, so this is a really weird hill to die on.

I just remember at the time of the funeral that there was surprise that he didn't attend the funeral, I think I saw a tweet from Higgins niece where she was referring to the fact that a prominent player hadn't attended when many others had, I just presumed that she was referring to Ronnie as you don't get any more prominent then him then or now.

I can't remember her name but at first I thought she was an escort (don't tell Murphy! he will be straight on to her! lol) maybe she isn't but just chooses to present herself as one.

Re: Ronnie

Hendry at the time thought it very poor form that not many players attended, because at the time he stated if it wasn't for Higgins he wouldn't be rich

Ah the old Smurph escort bollux, she was an school friend who happened to be an escort.

Snooker fans lap up this sensationalism nonsense. Not the sharpest as a whole.

Go on... you may as well get it over with. Ryan Day married his aunt?.

Oh wait. That's baloney too.

Disagree with this. Snooker fans are I’d wager more discerning than fans of most sports.

Alex Higgins died in 2010, Shelley Higgins didn't even join Twitter until January 2013. So not sure how she could have tweeted about that when she didn't have Twitter at the time.
