Vote for which of the two players you think was greater. Vote honestly, and leave your bias out of it. Don’t vote for a player just because you like them, don’t vote against a player just because you dislike them.

Consider the table conditions to be whatever conditions would have the least impact on the result.

You can use your own personal criteria for measuring greatness once it’s free of any bias towards/against (delete as applicable) players you like/dislike (delete as applicable).

The used to call him "Dog" Mountjoy! He looked a tough old unit back in the day, as you'd expect from a miner.

As for his snooker - he was so natural, had fantastic touch and timing but as he got older quite a bit of body movement crept into his technique, hence why he engaged the services of Frank Callan. What he did then was quite miraculous, to completely rebuild his game at the age of 45/46. It not only gave him two ranking titles but extended his career by six years.

Definitely one of the good guys.

Yeah I was totally rapt by that storyline as it emerged, remember it so well.

They discuss it a bit in this week’s Snooker Scene podcast.
