Think Pink overall leaderboard after Martin Gould (9) advanced to the European Masters final. Gould really punishing the 18 participants who didn't select him.

Early days, but if Martin Gould wins the final, it will really hurt everyone fromm 15th down. He has already hit them really hard in this tournament.

I should have read the rules - but I didn't.
How come Gould scores more than the others? Is this because he is in a lower tiered group?

Correct. The idea is that it rewards people who pick out gems that would generally not be as well-known as the top guys. The premise of the competition first day is that it would give an advantage to those with a wider knowledge of what happens further down the rankings.

I picked Gould as he seemed in a positive frame of mind going into the worlds, having overcome some personal demons. Sounded to me like he was bang up for the coming season.
So far so good...
