Players in Bold Current Tour players

Re: Q School 2020

Postby Wildey

Q School is a springboard to the main tour when you get there its up to you.

When Q School started in 2011 these were the players that got on tour

Andrew Norman
David Grace
Adam Wicheard
Robin Hull
Li Yan
David Morris
Simon Bedford
Tian Pengfei
Kurt Maflin
Stuart Carrington
Adam Duffy
David Gilbert

Some have gone on to bigger things David Gilbert is in the top 16 and Kurt Maflin today reached the Quarter Final of the World Championship beating John Higgins.

But the first man to ever qualify was Andrew Norman where is he today?

He last played at pro level at the 2015 World Championship losing 10-2 to Tom Ford in the last 144 lost his tour place and got a job at the South West Snooker Academy coaching and organizing Snooker events.

After getting on tour it's harder to stay there so good luck to everyone who will be bidding for their tour place over the next 3 days.

I'd like Brian to win. It's a tough group though. Most likely will be the winner of the Jones Walker match.

When Alex Higgins was banned in 1990 for threatening to have Dennis Taylor Shot and punching the press officer Colin Randal the first player he played when he came back was a qualifier against Adrian Rosa he beat Alex 5-0.

Adrian was a pro for 10 seasons between 1991 and 2004

Yes, great to see Adrian Rosa doing well. What is he 48 or 49 now? Hasn't lost a match yet, and has beaten Craig Steadman twice.

Is live scoring available anywhere? I’ve just been checking snooker.org for results throughout the day.

I’d like to see Mertens and Graham get through but I suspect it will be Walker or Jones, Astley or Thor, Lichtenberg or Fernandez and White or Fan.

Finally finished at 3am... It's just as well those late matches both ended 4-1. Some of the losers have to return to do it all over again today, whereas the winners open up byes in Round 3 of QS2 and QS3.

Congratulations to the 4 players. Nice to see a new pro in Devlin, whilst Lichtenberg and Fan get a chance to show their true potential after being somewhat overawed in their first spell. The teenager Fan Zhengyi has stayed in the UK for months by himself, separated from his family, hoping for this chance - it's a very good win over Michael White.

Re: Q School 2020

So four players have made it. Big congratulations to Peter Devlin who qualifies from q school at his 7th attempt (He's been entering since 2014).
And well done to Lee Walker, Simon Lichtenberg and Fan Zhengyi who make an immediate return after dropping off.
Lichtenberg and Fan played quite poorly in the last 2 years, but they're young and recent signs have suggested they are improving.
Lee Walker can make it tough for any player on his day. Remember he beat Judd Trump and Gary Wilson on his way to the Quarters of the English Open less than a year ago.

So 10 players lost their final chance to qualify yesterday, but 93 players remain for the last 2 days, 27 of them playing in both remaining events, and 66 having one chance remaining.
