This looks like ruling out WST events, but I do think a deal could be made under the right conditions.

Perhaps Shanghai Masters with arrangements similar to Milton Keynes. A 64-player event would be unlikely to get dispensation.

Potentially with a reduced field of 16 as well.

Certainly think that the events which can theoretically be moved shall be and wouldn't be surprised if there were some one-off ranking events to cover the ones which can't go ahead.

Yes, although we are likely in for a thinned-down season in any case. It could be that every tournament has to be played in some kind of bubble for at least the next few months.


If we can have English Open, Champion of Champions, NI Open, UK Championship and Scottish Open before Christmas that's a pretty good schedule considering the circumstances.

Something in Shanghai - even top-8 if necessary - helps keep the game alive globally. I don't expect the Chinese players who are stranded (snookered?) abroad to return until the flight restrictions are lifted in October, which opens up 13 places for wildcards (plus regular non-attendees like Mifsud), so the Q School OM could be a real ticket this year.

Yea but think of this logically China Open in April 2021 by the time the new season gets going with qualifying and all, International Champs, China Champs and Shanghai Masters would have been played anyway so that leaves only the World Open that is effected so what id do is Try and Get the Shanghai Masters or another Chinese ranking event played in January/February there will be no room for more than that anyway.

Snooker Season normally runs from june-may


Next season it will be September-May that's 3 fewer months.

And unless there's a vaccine they won't be able to go straight from one tournament to another it will take more time with fewer people to set up events then testing players possibly still isolate players in some way it will take a long time to get back to where we were.

What's to stop there being a tournament with just the local Chinese lads in? I'd happily watch that if the coverage was good.

Normally in June they play Chinese National Championship, won last year by Zhang Anda. But since this has obviously been cancelled this year they could play it in the autumn, which would give the 11 stranded professionals a game (Zhang Anda is no longer a professional).


But yes, it would be nice to see Zhou, Zhao, etc. playing. Hopefully their progress won't be damaged too much by missing a year. Zhou Yuelong has enough ranking points to stay on tour. Zhao Xintong and Xiao Guodong would need to play some events in 2020-21 to survive. Li Hang, Yuan Sijun, Mei Xiwen and the young players will probably be relegated next year.
