We should comment on this one tomorrow, when the BBC show it again...

Watching now, about 40mins behind the live showing because I thought it started at 3, like the weekend ones.

I remember this well, I was 10yrs old, in primary school and there was a great buzz around because snooker was big then - even the Radio Times used to print a pull-out draw like they do for football world cups now!

Jimmy was also popular at my school as he was a Tooting lad, and we were just down the road in Streatham.

was at boarding school when this was on.a group of us watched the second day with white 12-4 down thinking davis would romp it and slowly he got closer.normally we had to go to bed at 10 but because we had watched most of the second day we were allowed to stay up and watch to the end which proved to be a one off

as none of us could function properly in class the next day so we could only watch the 85 final till 10. we went to bed that night emotionally drained after white got so close but it wasn't to be.don't worry we thought they'll be other years for white how wrong we were.

Nobody won in '85. There was that virus thing and everybody had to stay in doors for 3month; all sport was cancelled.

A ruddy Irishman in strange specs then went on TV and hypnotised a generation into believing an event that was, in truth, scarcely believable.

Still, what about the Golf, eh?
