The rankings are weighted towards the more recent events, so 2010s events carry the most weight, followed by 2000s, 1990s etc in that order.

My choices, and reasons :

6 : Ray Reardon (6 WCs, 26 career titles)
4 : John Spencer (3 WCs, 27 career titles)
2 : Terry Griffiths (WC, Masters champion, 18 career titles)
1 : Dennis Taylor (WC, Masters champion, 19 career titles)
1 : Joe Johnson (WC, UK semi-finalist, Masters semi-finalist, 5 career titles)
1 : Paul Hunter (WC semi-finalist, UK semi-finalist, 3 Masters titles & 3 ranking titles)
1 : Jimmy White (6 times WC runner-up, UK & Masters champion, 33 career titles, and flying in practice)
1 : Ding Junhui (WC runner-up, twice WC semi-finalist, 3 times UK champion, Masters champion & 14 ranking titles)
1 : Stephen Maguire (twice WC semi-finalist, UK champion & runner-up, 4 Masters SF's, 5 ranking titles)
1 : Barry Hawkins (WC runner-up & 4 semi-finals, Masters runner-up, 3 ranking titles)
1 : Allister Carter (twice WC runner-up, 2 UK SF's, Masters runner-up & 4 ranking titles)
1 : Matthew Stevens (twice WC runner-up & 3 further SF's, UK champion, Masters champion)
1 : Alan McManus (3 times WC semi-finalist, 3 times UK semi-finalist, Masters champion & 5 SF's, 2 ranking titles)
1 : Mark Allen (WC semi-finalist, twice UK runner-up, Masters champion, 5 ranking titles)
1 : Doug Mountjoy (WC runner-up, UK champion, Masters Champion, 17 career titles)
1 : Stephen Lee (WC semi-finalist, twice UK semi-finalist, Masters runner-up, 5 ranking titles)

I believe all former World Champions should compete in this, hence their positions at the top of my list. Personality-wise, I wouldn't have Carter anywhere near it; but I believe his achievements merit a place. Stephen Lee's indiscretions would obviously put a question-mark against him but, again, on achievements I believe he deserves a spot.

I look forward to seeing who makes the cut...

Re: An idea which has formed in my head....

Postby PLtheRef

I was minded not to include Lee given his suspension (unless there is a feeling here that he should be included should he qualify)

Qualifying Closed!

I'll add up the votes and work out who the 16 qualifiers are. In the event of a tie, it will go to the player with the better World Championship record who is placed higher.

The 16 qualifiers will be revealed tomorrow.
