New Eurosport... constant buffering?

Postby Prop

Morning Islanders.

Has anyone else noticed - after Eurosport updated its streaming presentation - that they’re getting buffering every ten minutes or so?

I’ve never had an issue with it before. None of my hardware has changed, and I’ve got a steady 110mb download speed as I’ve had for months. Watching through a PS4, wired to the router/hub. All other services like Netflix etc are fine.

It’s really spoiling it for me. Just wondered if anyone else streaming Eurosport had recently experienced the same, or if anyone techy might know of a reason a UI/skin update might create these issues?

Yeah, for me on my PC after 5-10 minutes it starts stuttering and will eventually stop playing. That’s on Firefox.

On Chrome it’s almost fine but the video is very slightly delayed compared to the audio.

On my phone it seems to be fine although I haven’t used it for such an extended period of time. I’ve had the occasional buffering but that’s not unusual when I watch at work.

So no problems that way. rofl

Eat crow, fool.

On a totally unrelated matter, that isn't the way I watch porn.

Well I’ve sent them an email. See if they come back to me and inevitably tell me to check my internet connection...

I almost went for the TV package with Virgin, SF. Just couldn’t justify the price at the time. It’s nice having a good download speed though.

Can’t grumble about ES Player in general, just this latest glitch is really annoying. I pay for LIVE coverage ffs!!!

My Virgin bills have recently gone up.

I'd managed to negotiate a £20 a month discount for a year, when they had that falling out with UKTV and nearly lost 10 channels.

There was such a backlash against it, they were trying their best not to give sizable discounts. But I went mental at them. I was on the phone to them for weeks after it happened, e-mailed them several days, just went completely spastic calling them criminals. Whereas most they were supposed to be offering was £3 a month, I got £20 a month for a year. That's just ended now though, so I'm back to paying a fortune for Virgin. <laugh>

Good on you pal. I had a similar thing with Powergen years ago. I swear it knocked ten years off my life. But when you’ve got a fight to win you stick at it don’t you.

I’ll be negotiating next year’s prices with Virgin in a couple of months. The joy.

I recently rang to see if they could do me a better deal now the £20 discount was up, and they flat out refused. I'd have even signed a new 12 month contract if I thought the deal was worth it.

To be honest, now the channels that were missing are back, I didn't really have the same fire to fight it with. It was five or six weeks of calling, shouting and e-mailing last time. I always knew the price hike was coming, and just don't have the enthusiasm to fight it this time.

I might try again at some point, see if there's any offers I can be given. But the answer is usually no, unless you absolutely freak at them. Or have a problem that they admit to not being able to solve.

They're chameleons.

I rang and asked them if I could save money on my bill, and even said I'd sign a contract for 12 months to do so. They just flat out refused. Even having me tied down for a year wasn't an incentive to give me any kind of reduction.

Hang on? Are you literally just getting the broadband?

I play less than that, am not on a contract and get the broadband and am on the large television package.
