excellent factual article :D <cool>

they realise who is the proper number 1

:afro:

Robbo is not number one, that's still Higgins. Robbo is n°1 in the provisional seeding list but Ali is only some 400 points behind him and it would take only for Ali to go one round further than him in the World Open to overcome him. Going by both performances this season that's not unlikely.

Re: Latest Provisional Rankings Discussion Topic

yes Ali Carter is closing the list and Robbo needs a very good showing in the World Open against Dott Carter got a match against a amateur .......

if i have to put money on who the WN1 will be at the cut off point id make carter favourite.

Look who is at 95 out of 96! Selby should project himself right up the list at this revision. Other names who will find themselves in a better position include Cope, Ding, Liang, Higgins and O'Sullivan.

The biggest losers USA are obviously those at the top.

Ronnie is provisionally 8 meaning if he has a bad World Open he will be outside the top 8 come the UK. Basically meaning he could draw the likes of Higgins, Robbo, Selby, Williams, Ding from the second round onwards.

The list to look out for is the new Provisional Seedings List linked in Hot Topics as soon as the next official revision has taken place.

And Mark Allen being out of the World Open as well.

Hendry also needs a good run and that 4,000 that davis is losing could put him in a top 32 dog fight at the UK Championship.

I've just ended up working out the provisionals for the post UK cut off as it stands now. Yes as a fanboy trying to work out where Selby is. He is in with a shout of the WN1 spot along with a few others come end of year if he gets a few performances under his belt. On the current list there is a gap of some nearly 5000 points between Higgins in 3 and Murphy in 4 just to get into perspective how different this list looks:

This is what I've worked out - December cut off as it stands now top ten:

1. John Higgins 42720
2. Ali Carter 41945
3. Neil Robertson 39785
4. Ding Junhui 37065
5. Mark Selby 36965
6. Ronnie O'Sullivan 35925
7. Mark Williams 35720
8. Stephen Maguire 33805
9. Shaun Murphy 33645
10. Graeme Dott 30450
