That must have been torture for Ross Bulman... Lines kept getting in but couldn't sustain a break and even got potted the yellow, green and brown but couldn't complete the clearance.

Sport eh.

Only one match left Long Zehuang V Long Claw.

Barry is on a break to try and get it to 3-3

Re: Q School 2019

Postby lhpirnie

It must be very tense now. For Barry Pinches, it may be his last chance. For Long Zehuang, it may be his only chance.

For those that don't know Long Zehuang, he's a former 9-ball U19 World Champion, who has crossed over to snooker. I don't know how much pool he plays these days, but he was very successful. Originally from Shanghai.

He was, of course, only a late replacement for Mohammadali Pordel.

I think thats a fairly good spread. There were always going to be a few older journeymen qualify but at least there are quite a few youngsters and quite a few journeymen that didn't

Re: Q School 2019

To avoid collusion or the appearance of it, where a player already qualified via the OOM plays someone who can only qualify via winning the final match....would it be better to incentivise players to go for a win by saying the winners of the last match get a number of ranking points to start the season with whilst those qualifying via the OOM don't?

Re: Q School 2019

Postby SteveJJ

The likes of Kleckers will now face an anxious wait to see whether they will be called up for the World Cup now that he's not a pro. Would be interesting if there was a fixture clash between the world cup and a challenge tour event......choice between your country and your own career.

There are so many other ways to get on tour take James Cahill he reached the Crucible last 16 but he starts on Zero points so rewarding q school players with ranking points wouldnt be fair would it.

Yea but you have to put a criteria in and you cant say x cant enter..

Obviously some are not good enough and this year thoes 16 were the best available players its not good that old players are qualifying and if truth be told its not good that 40 somethings is at the top of the sport but that is where were at im affraid.

The best way would be to use OOM or direct qualification exclusively. The only reason both are used this year is because there were too many open spots and a fourth event would have been too expensive.

My problem is not their age. It is the lack of international(not from China or the UK) players!

no dates on Challange tour been issued and i think Kleckers is nailed on for the German team its not as if they got a big pool to chose from

They could maybe do an international q school as well as a Chinese one and two UK ones to get a better spread, and ditch the order of merit places.

Germany is too big market for Barry not to get a German team in the World Cup. I'm just worried that Finland may not get a team in since Robin and Heikki failed to qualify :-(

There are 24 teams so if you take away the two Chinese teams and one each for the home nations there will still be seventeen countries. There aren’t that many nationalities on tour so being on tour won’t be a pre-requisite. I’d be very surprised if Finland didn't have a team. Though Robin sounds like he may jack it in.

With Lichtenberg still on tour Germany are bound to be there, Maflin will probably play with his wife again, and Sharav and Ruberg will no doubt team up, but is there anyone that Georgiou can play with?

Germany will have a team as they still have Lichtenberg as a pro. Despite not making it Kleckers was the best of the other Germans at QSchool.

Yes I suspect they had pencilled in Finland.

They said they were awaiting Q School to finish before announcing the teams so it will have had some bearing.

Also be interesting who China pick for their second team as Yan should be in the top team based on rankings. They didnt go on rankings for the b team last time and went for the youngsters.

Regarding diversity, never fear, there's Asian Q School next year. Great money making scheme by Hearn tbf, wouldn't be surprised if there's 10 times the amount of applicants than there is for British Q School for about 6 tour cards. Bazza laughing all the way to the bank.
