Monday 1st ~ Sunday 7th of April at the National Olympic Sports Centre Stadium, Beijing, China

For the last 2 years the China Open has been won by Mark Selby how he could do with it again this year having strugled for results throughout the season.

Mark Selby lost the World No 1 possition to Ronnie O'Sullivan in the recent Tour Championship however a win here in China and he will reclaim that possition With Ronnie O'Sullivan not in China theres a few players lining up the trophy this week.

Biggest casulties from the Qualifiers were Graeme Dott, Martin Gould, Michael White, Jimmy Robertson and Shaun Murphy who lost to Adam Stefanow of poland.

With the World Championship round the corner who will go there in form?

Great tournament. Long format and a huge amount of prize money/ranking points that severely affects the automatic qualifiers for the Crucible. Very exciting stuff.

Not to mention it posseses World Snooker's most beautiful trophy

The Tour Championship greatness, somehow decreased the desire we all have for this tournament.

In my mind, China Open is always a good lead in for the World Championship. It's not only a strong and valuable tournament itself (especially since last year), but it also determines the top 16 for the Crucible and the lower places for the qualifiers. For me, as I don't work in the morning, it gives me plenty of time to watch great matches.

The one week break after Tour Championship was good and I am sure that when the action in Beijing begins, the interest for our beloved game will be back.
