Most Groups cramped up in January I see...

They should get rid of this rubbish once and for all, but Hearn needs this event to keep bookies interested... purely for bookies and nothing else.

That definately crossed his mind.

This is the only competition when losing can actually make you richer than the Group winner if you continue to finish 5th until 2nd, which is silly and in theory players could actually do this, which is against the fair rules of the sport.

I wouldnt be surprised if Robbo did that because he knew there would be more matches to make more centuries.

Rubbish Event and Pointless why would John Higgins complain too much snooker then play in this thing time after time.

I mean, it benefits the players involved, even if it is intrinsically unfair. And it sweetens up the gambling companies, who sponsorship is reliant on.

But it's not an event for fans, really. No TV/Streaming other than through betting companies. No fans allowed into the venue to watch. So, as far as us fans are concerned, it's not meant for us.

We should probably just ignore it, if I'm honest. rofl

Is darts as reliant on the gambling agencies as snooker?

Yes, they sponsor them a lot. But I'm sure more industries could be tempted to sponsor darts, such is the popularity of the sport.

Is this true of snooker?

One player, Robert Milkins I think, was praising the CL on Twitter the other day. Said when he was in it, it's the best he's been treated at a tournament.
