Re: New event - Europe versus Asia

Gotta love this Alex Higgins shot to close out the 9 ball game (featured in this article) and the fact he's smoking and swigging Guinness...

https://youtu.be/W7xiae-32rM

I played 9 ball on Thursday, a race to 9 against a new opponent I'd never played or seen play - lost the first two frames to go 2 - nil down, was starting to get a bit chimpy in my brain imagining a 5 nil drubbing, took myself to the toilet had a quick pep talk with myself and came out took the next 5 to win 5-2!

Back on topic, yes, I'd love this event, Asia will take some beating right now!

Not got any problem with this, but not sure it's for me.

I don't really like snooker as a team event. Somehow takes the tension out of it, for me. If a player makes a mistake, and loses a frame, I want to see what'll happen in the next frame. How the player who made the mistake will deal with it. Not have their mates come in to help them.

But that's just my opinion. Good luck to it. <ok>

Calendar is always full of stuff like that.

May be relevant, may not be.

I agree. Team games in snooker don't do it for me. Isn't there too many tournaments already?

Is there such a thing as too much snooker?

Re: New event - Europe versus Asia

Depends really. I'm not sure some of the players enjoy travelling all over the world. A few have complained of being tired and not enjoying living out of hotels.

For fans it's obviously a different kettle of fish. Whether it's China,Berlin or Bucharest, your still sitting in your own house watching the various tournaments.

Some fans would watch snooker 365 days a year if they could. Not me, there's more to life than any one thing. Too much of anything is not healthy. I love snooker but i try and enjoy watching seven or eight tournaments a year. The big three are never missed. That sates my snooker appetite. Maybe if i had no work to go to i'd watch more but i enjoy GAA and football massively too so it's about finding time for all four sports for me.

Snooker is not global enough yet for an event like this to be viable.

If they do want to go ahead with it, they should make it Great Britain vs China instead because that's what it will be essentially.

He said he was gonna take a break from the forum.

I think he said until the UK, but I can't remember for sure.

But that's what professional sport is all about.

You dont have to enjoy it but its something thats been done in other sports for years..

As I know this forum loves to compare the two sports.

Should be ban tennis for being played internationally? That involves a lot of world travel.

Theres no comparing anything either yo want to be a cosy parlour game played for peanuts or a World Sport that's growing sorry but if you want to make money you got to get off your bottom and travel in today's sporting climate.

Sounds rubbish.

What a shame, I was so looking forward to this.

Unless it's Ireland versus England I have no interest in a team event in snooker.

They could call it the 'Friendship & Unity Cup'.
