Well done Ronnie! And hope the neutrals and proper snooker fans enjoyed the match :)

Good idea.

Let's just all get along. No point getting upset over something as trivial as whether a person likes different snooker players.

The gloating over the losses is particularly shady. Slamming the greatest exponent of our game? Plain contrary.

I DISAGREE!

FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT!

I don't understand why it's so bad to get nervous when your favourite player is playing worse than his opponent, or lets him off the hook? The nature of forums is that we're posting in the moment.

We've seen so many times how one missed ball can change the tide of a match (turning points!) so what exactly is the problem? It doesn't mean that neutrals have to start fretting.

It's easy to be relaxed if you don't care who wins.

I dunno, maybe it's because as a Ronnie fan and a Villa fan I've been trained to expect the worst. Just strikes me as a bit arrogant.

Yes I sometimes am expecting the worst, that way if the worst becomes a reality, then I wont be as gutted.

I'm usually very positive, but yesterday how could I be when things were level at 4-4? It was very much a 50/50 ,match then.

Glad he won it in style, playing vintage snooker.

His longevity is nothing short of remarkable.

Hendry won his 18 TC events over a 10 year gap, 1989 and 1999. Ronnie between 1993 and 2017!

Both very impressive in their own right.

You're not a Villa fan, are ya?

I support West Brom. rofl

God help me I am.

And if you start saying anything about Baggies being the biggest club in the West Midlands you'll be cruising for a reporting!

Maybe it's just me, I don't really get it, as I don't really have one favourite player. So even when I do care who wins a match, it's not really that big a deal to me.

I'd have thought at 4-4, with two ranking events in the last few weeks already, there were plenty of reasons to be positive that Ronnie would win the match.

I actually thought, during live play, that Murphy equalling at 5-5 felt more of a body blow, as Ronnie had made a strong start to the session.

4-4, going into the evening I had it closer to 65/35 to Ronnie more than 50/50.

But as you say, I didn't really mind who won either way, so may be have a different outlook.

One thing I want to see in snooker now, is to Ding finally win The Crucible. Maybe I'll start getting it when he goes 10-0 in a Crucible final, and his opponent wins a frame. rofl

One thing for sure though is that Murphy played close to his best. Can't remember him even missing a single long ball. He definitely wasn't frightened by O'Sullivan yesterday and its fair to say the CoC final gave him a lot of belief.

Thats why the way O'Sullivan pulled away has definitely been more impressive than the Shanghai Masters final where Trump played very poorly from the start and didn't punish any mistakes of Ronnie.

I have to say that it's actually the Ronniehaters who are most fanatical about him. Probably have dart boards up at home with his face on the bullseye. Need to let it go. Most Ronnie fans are v happy with what Ronnie has accomplished. And most pundits and players now regard Ronnie as the greatest.

We don't need to argue with you. And you're only making yourselves bitter by continually rubbishing Ronnie after every win, or gloating after every loss. It's so sad.

I enjoyed the match very much. Not enjoying some Ronnie fans being sanctimonious self-victimizing morons so much but what can you do.

O'Sullivan has to beat Selby in a Crucible final before he deserves to even be mentioned in an all time greatest debate. This is my opinion, and is as valid as anyone else's.

No, it really isn't. It's just trolling - and very lowbrow at that. You hate Ronnie so much that your entire argument is circular and nonsensical... Ronnie can't be the best, because he hasn't got as many World titles as Hendry - but Selby, with 3, is better than Ronnie, with 5. And I suppose Hendry needs to beat Doherty in a world final, too. Yeah. OK. I think you need to sit down now and take a deep breath.

Ronnie and his fans are savouring yet another WIN this year. :win:

This is a very specific request. What if Selby never makes another final?!

Then Ronnie won't achieve All Time Great status.

If he wins the next 5 World Championships in a row, makes 18 147s in each final, he's rubbish. Because he lost to Selby in a final. <ok>

Re: Betway UK Championship Final !!!!!!

Postby Holden Chinaski

Selby's eight years younger than Ronnie you know.

Hendry never beat Ronnie in a world final. Can't be GOAT rofl

Some people are just idiots, or they just hate Ronnie too much. Ronnie has beaten Selby lots of times, just not in a world final (yet). Davis never beat Selby in a final. Can't be GOAT rofl <doh>

Lovely picture. We will never ever see longevity like this in Snooker, unbelieveable talent.

Btw I remember you being a Federer fan right? What a year it's been for us! 2 Grand Slams with one of them being Wimbledon and beating Nadal in a GS final and Ronnie winning so many tournaments again...2017 has been the best sporting year for me for a very long time

He's made 4 already, and he's a crucible specialist, but the chances of meeting Ronnie again in a WC final is slim odds, too many banana skins.

Plus sometimes it's not even up to them... they could meet in the Semis for instance.

Of course, I am joking. The point is if O'Sullivan was undoubtedly the greatest player ever he would have won more world titles than any other modern era player. He hasn't yet. And when he has won his 8th world title I will most definitely be the first person to shake his hand and say "Well done old boy. It may have taken a while, but you are without question the greatest snooker player ever. Now you have proved that, you can go out and save the world!"
