Jason Devaney booked his place in the World Open professional stages by winning the qualifying tournament at the Ivy Rooms in Carlow, Ireland.

The 17-year-old from Ballina, a former Junior Pot Black champion, beat Josh Boileau 3-1 in the final. He now goes through to the pro qualifiers at the World Snooker Academy in Sheffield, which start on August 21.

The World Open has space for 32 amateur players alongside the 96 professionals. There are 20 spaces allocated to winners of club tournaments and there's still time to enter some of those - click here for details. The televised stages run from September 18 to 26 at the SECC in Glasgow.
