Who would you like to see qualify for Crucible?

Postby mick745

I would really like to see the following players qualify this year:

Luca Brecel
Yan Bingtao
Jimmy White
Akani Songsersawad
Yuelong
Xintong
Anthony Hamilton
Un-Nooh.

Most of these are up and coming youngsters with big potential. Anthony Hamilton is one of the best players on the circuit this year, great to see how he would fare.

Jimmy's days on the tour are drawing to a close, he has been playing better of late and it would be good for him to get there for possibly the last time.

I believe that Bingtao and Xintong in particular relish being on the big stage, it would stand them in good stead for the future if they qualified.

I believe Akani also has a big future in the game and I hope he starts making a breakthrough.

Who would you like to see at the Crucible and why?

Pretty much agree with your list, would love to see them qualify. Who knows... If Jimmy's draw isn't too difficult, he might qualify, this season he has played better than the last 10 years probably, his loss of weight I think has a lot to do with it.

I would add to your list:

Mavis
Martin Gould
MJW
David Gilbert
Alan McManus
Kurt Maflin
Xiao Guodong

Mark Davis is certainly far from rubbish. Two maximums this season plus glorious defeats of Robertson and O'Sullivan. A credit to the sport

Well said; and I like watching King & Dale too. So hang me.

Has Maguire already been forgotten or does no one like him?

It would be great to see some young blood come through, might be too soon for Bingtao, Xintong and Yuelong but heres hoping.

As qualifiers, I would make at least Maguire, Gould, Walden, M.White and Perry favourites over Day and Wilson. Would be nice to see those high peak level players in the draw after a successful qualifying.

Also the smooth group of players, Gilbert, Brecel, Akani, Un-Nooh, Xintong etc.

If Alexopaul doesn't like him, he's rubbish. That's the official barometer we use on this site. <ok>

Where have I said I don't like him?

Every year we all hope to see the exciting younger players get through to the Crucible but it's usually always the kind of players I've listed.

Problem with that is, and also the players I posted, is that 2 or more of those may face each other at some point in those qualifiers, so it would be nearly impossible to get all 16 right, without of course not even knowing the draw for the 1st round.

As for Mags, I've certainly not forgot him, but what good is he at The Crucible?

He's lost more first round matches there than any other player, and if he qualifies, there's a high chance that will happen again.

It's a shame because even though I like him I don't expect him to qualify.

Was just suprised no one mentioned him.

Un Nooh is a cracking player. He is a very thin, and looks slightly similar to Ronnie. He can, and usually does, make a blistering starts. So at the moment I will have to name him. Jimmy is always Jimmy, so I might still changhe my mind. Some top players just can´t be fussed to have a decent efforts. It is down to the wisdom they have. It is not too easy to be a winner of the style contest. Actually it is vice versa. But still not they all could play the snooker which would please the scores. People are just different, and some have specialised to be what they are, no matter of what. So it is down to just a few people to really make it happen.

Anthony Hamilton has recently admitted snooker he has now played is "by far the the best he has ever played". So can´t count him out either. I need to try to pick the winners, also. Some of my mates can be a more than little sentimental that I have abandoned them if not telling them who will have some success. But that´s not the case, me abandoned anyone. Just trying to find some new stuff. And need to say AH have quite a much where to pick if he starts to seeks his best efforts and playing. Perhaps the optimal preparations to him could be downing a few pints and then trying to remember some. Instead of thinking those usual, modern problem solvings, which are never going to take him to everywhere. It seems to be perfectly okay having all sorts of shortages. Or having the eternal big stress about things. The big idea behind those problem solving is that if you are just not good enough, if you can t stand the heat get out of the kitchen. It is that simple. You need to be good enough with the resources you just have.

But predicted something like this. How demending it ever will be then. I am the right man for the job then. It reminds me times when I played chess on the internet. It was 15 years ago. I used to be quite good. On one day I played against a really wonderfull player. He or she talked some really cracking stuff also. But then suddenly I was told that he or she didn´t have legs. I wrote something. But then he or she replied; "Yes, but I have no legs". Then I realised it. I replied; "Er.. What??". And then that Ok thanks gotta go bye.

So there will be some suprises also. I still think the only players the young newcomes could learn from are Ronnie O´Sullivan and Mark King. MK is not because of the reasons some people seems to be thinking. I just think he is a very honest overall player. Never missing anything big time. And Ronnie can always suprise. He has a good position to keep on playing well. But there hasn´t been much anything fragile. Which is also important.
