Selby won easily 6-2 and Allen also won 6-4 with a top break of 140. He was really good after the MSI.

This TV company have probably never filmed snooker....

When you reach the Semi final of a ranking event and you brush aside world no 2 and Shanghai Masters champion 9-3 and 10-1 respectively it will give you immense confidence and having this event come along so soon Selby will take some beating this week.

Dont understand the reasoning behind making it a ranking Event next season..
it gives players start of the season like Ants and Holt something to aim for by playing well and having a highs one year ranking you are in

I agree, I love the concept. We got too many tournaments with 128 players in and BO7s.

Ronnie just got a ranking final, and won the welsh earlier this year. That can't be right.

between thoes 2 events he made £86,000 they are low tariff events.
last time he won or reached a final of a high tariff event was the 2014 UK Championship when he won £150,000 thoes points have now been removed two years on. He could do with a good run at the UK to ease the pressure and give him more options to pick and chose in the run up to sheffield.
This season is the first time Ronnie has to chase points or he falls.

Good crowd there for a Chinese tournament, though Ding and Trump are playing.

omg, that final black in the Ding - Fu match. First Fu misses an easy black, then Ding, then Fu, Ding, Fu, Ding... ultimately leaving the final black in the jaws of the pocket.
Fu is through, 6-3.

Both Trump and Ding lost.
Trump was unlucky, potting a long red but the white went in too, leaving him needing snookers and giving the win to Attitude Carter.
In the other match Fu won a 1985 style dramatic black ball game.

What a blobfest with the final black on Ding v Fu match! And what a nonsense from Fu with the colours in the previous frame that he finally lost.

It's not. Back in 2012 he was in an even worst position. Prior to German Masters he was like 14th or 15th, and had he lost that famous first round match against Higginson he would drop out of Top 16. He won it from 4-0 down and that signled his remarkable comeback dead and buried, when most were already writting him off.
He has to chase points this season yes, but it's not the first time he does it.

Yes he gets automatic entry as defending champ. Cut off is the December Home Series event in Ireland I believe.

As CueView's excellent preview states, it's £15,000 just for chalking your cue!
A HUGE pot of £200,000 to the winner - so this will be taken very seriously by the players - although it could be argued it's an exhibition event.
But, without the pressure of ranking points, I fancy Judd Trump to win this!
Anybody else have a hunch?
Who is this idiot!?

I got this afternoon's match on. The first thing I notice is the great crowd.
Two seconds in, but I am loving this tournament.

Ticket prices have a lot to do with it.
At the IC they were very expensive. To some, Snooker is huge is China but only for TV purposes.

The cut off point is the UK Championships, but as you said O'Sullivan will be seeded number one as defending champion regardless of where he is in the rankings. Obviously in that case the World Number 16 would be the player to miss out. Hearn said a few years ago that a Wildcard for the Masters would only be issued in the event of a player from outside the Top 16 winning the UK Championship. - With the money now awarded for winning the UK (in terms of the money list ranking system - along with the fact he mentioned this some five years ago it's probably a fairly moot point.
