Maflin could be tough for Ronnie, but I reckon he'll make mistakes for Ronnie to pounce. Ronnie played well most of the match against Xiao, looks motivated for this and well up for it.

Seems like ages since I last saw Stevens on TV!

In fact, the last time I remember was when he beat Ronnie at the 2015 Welsh Open.

He won't stand a chance against Ding. Ding, having comeback from 5.2 down against Maan, may well go on to have a deep run here.

Still, on the positive side he didn't mention he was quitting the game! Looks like he'll stay a pro for a few more years.

I disagree with him. He may not be in his best firm, but he can compete. He just lost a final by the odd frame against Judd. Or is Judd not considered one of the best?

Ronnie has spent his entire career pretending he can't play snooker. This is nothing different.

Not sure if I am able to watch the 6pm highlights tonight or not. Maybe I should keep away from checking scores, just in case.

Then again, I did just see this post.

Walden beats Dott 6-4, and Baird could finish 6-4 against Fu any moment now. Marco can still force black respot though. EDIT: Now he can win the frame, but still far behind Baird in this tenth frame.

Murphy also forces a decider against Bingtao.

I think Murphy's two biggest problems in his game are balance and consistency.

With regards to balance, he either goes gung-ho at any sniff of a pot or else he abandons his natural game completely if the long ones don't go in. So if Plan A fails he has no Plan B, something Ronnie mentioned about his own game and something Trump has improved on. Ronnie, Selby and Robbo all have a Plan B that allows them to stick in matches when not playing well and nick frames. Murphy either looks like a god or an amateur, nothing in between.

His career seems to be littered with spells of good months when he's winning tournaments or getting to the latter stages of events. But then he goes on a six month run of losing in early rounds against players he should be wiping the floor with. It's very hard to see him developing this at this stage in his career.

I disagree saying his cue action is overrated. He has a beautiful cue action and addresses the ball lovely. Probably only second to Ding's cue action in my opinion.

In the 2015/16 season he got past the QF in only 3 tournaments out of the 18 he entered, for a player of his quality that's really not good enough.

Knocked out of the World's in the last 32, China Open in last 32, Welsh Open last 32, Master in the last 16 (first round), UK Championship last 16, Aussie Open last 32.

He had some early exits to players like Mark Davis, Mark King, Ben Woolaston, Luca Brecel and Jamie Jones.

He enters pretty much all events on the calendar so his ranking should stay relatively high with one or two small bits of success in a season.
