That can only be good dont it? At least there's more of a chance of a surprise winner and then all this talk about the 1 million will look even sillier.

Good player walden, but horrific to watch, constantly checking, walking round table, it gets a bit tedious

bucking Autocorrect. I meant to put Bingtao, it made me look like I thought a former champion of the world had no chance of winning this tournament.

That's what happens with short race formats, also makes a clean sweep of the 4 events virtually impossible

Ref should warm Walden. FFS. 3 times round the table, backwards and forwards, for a straight red.

Takes me back to 2005, World Championships, ROS v Peter Ebdon. I think the referee set a silly precedent that match.
I remember listening to the Snooker podcast thing, and Clive seemed to be struggling not to call it farcical. It wasn't Ebdon's fault, he technically did nothing wrong and was brilliant really for getting away with it, but the referee really needed to have a word when the timetaking became blatant and excessive.
Still one of the most incredible moments in the history of the game IMO.

To be fair, Ronnie did bottle that. He had multiple chances to win multiple frames.
Ebdon's not the most exciting player, but I don't agree he was cheating in that match.

Have you read Clive's book Cheshire? 'Black Farce and Cueball Wizards' - it's so good. Ebdon was on the board of the WPBSA at the time. He was effectively the ref's boss. Scandalous.
