Bit of a surprising scoreline as Scott Donaldson leads John Astley whos had a great start to the season 3-0 and Jimmy White 2-0 down to Daniel Wells guess it did not help Jimmy having to travel yesterday from Germany but that's professional sport you need stamina as well as skill.

Zhang Anda completes a 5-0 win over Aditya Mehta .

it seems the wheels has come off Aditya career in the last few years after reaching the final of the Indian Open in 2013.

Jimmy reverting to type?! Crashes out 5-2 to Daniel Wells at the first hurdle. No money earned from this, so will probably fall further from his current ranking of 91.

Jimmy will never find consistency again so no point hoping.

Sam Craigie in his second spell on tour having played one season in 2011/2012 is finding his feet currently he is ranked 86 but going in the right direction

Darryl Hill, on the other hand, is a huge disappointment.

He is now 0-4 down to Ian Preece and he fails again to prove himself competetive in the high level.

Happy to see Thor and Akbar progressing.

Not one for putting players down, but wasn't Darryl Hill awarded the 'Rookie Of The Year' award last season?

He won only 3 matches!

My point is World Snooker should have done a 'breakthrough of the year' award...and should have gone to Kyren Wilson for his Shanghai win.

Wins 3
Lost 17

Left the King vs Akbar match at 2-4 with the hope that the Pakistani will finish the job, but I find out now that King won 5-4 by winning two of the last three frames in the last black. Akbar is a tough match player but there's still something missing from his game to beat experienced opponents...

On the other hand, Thor Chuan Leong from Malaysia beat Oli Lines 5-4 with two century breaks (while he had only one his first two years as professional). This guy shows that he's got the talent to stay on the tour for years.

Akbar had his chances but missed some crucial shots. Was a bit strange that King kept moaning after bad shots.
Good to see Thor winning, also another Asian champion won yesterday Nook Kritsanut on his pro debut.

Another player who lost a good lead was Robin Hull. Seemingly cruising to an impressive win against Zhang Anda, leading 4-1, he lost the last 4 frames to crash out 4-5...

Another loss from 4-1 up as Akani couldn't withstand Rod Lawler's comeback in an almost 7 hour match.
Un-Nooh also lost earlier to an in-form Duffy.

Impressive start for the Thai youngster, I logged in just to write about it. And he made 4 half-century breaks.

Ken Doherty struggles against Gareth Allen and maybe this year will be the last in the tour -although it's quite sure that, Like Jimmy White, he will get a wild card.

Thor's defeat to Davison was a dissapointment, indeed...

Meanwhile, Ian Preece is ready for another great victory, as he leads 4-0 Chris Wakelin. To be honest, I don't remember this player back in the years he was a pro again and would like to see him playing now.

Rory McLeod recovered from 0-4 to level the match against Hammad Miah, but it was Miah who won at the decider and will fight for a place at Shanghai against Matt Selt.

I caught the last frame of Stevens vs O'Donell match. Some good pots from Matthew, I hope that he can be competitive against Martin Gould tomorrow (it's one of the matches that will be available on ES Player).
