From which wood are Maguire's and Fu's cues made of? The structure of wood looks pretty different from other players cues. It looks like it is made from pressed wood chips, but I think this is nonsense.

Maple.
Most players have cues with ash shafts, but Maguire, Fu and others have cues with maple shafts.

Maguire said recently in an interview he just picked up a cue at his club and liked it so he's using that, so it might not be maple anymore.

Didn't know that. I know he used to play with a maple GBL cue.

Hahah. Brilliant. I played last week with a house cue and I loved it, played ace - was gonna ask them if I could buy it off them - should have done!

It's probably still a maple cue. He's probably used to maple.
Hendry played with a maple cue he picked up in a club in his glory days as well.
I prefer ash cues myself. Ash just feels better for me.

Didn't Doherty use a warped cue from his club until the mid-noughties?
