How the UK Championship could be re-formatted

Postby Tubberlad

Not designed to be an entertaining post. I've always said I'd have liked a longer UK Championship, with the 4-table set up gotten rid of. Here's how it could be scheduled. It'll take 14 days, the same length as it was before the ridiculous 4 tables were introduced

F: Best of 31

7.00pm: Matches 1 & 2 (to a finish)

No I'm just smiling at your persistence in extending snooker tournaments to longer formats.

I would love for your suggestion to become reality but the first thing that sticks out is that one semi finishes when a lot of people are at work.

How it worked when it was in York is that the last 64 played from the Monday across 5 tables (nicely lined up so you could see them all from the balcony seats) then on the Saturday it was reduced to 2 tables. It meant some top 16 players had already played their first round matches and others were held over till the tv stages but even so, now you miss half the matches with the 4 table set up.
