Basically everyone who played well first round went out. If the pattern repeats we'll have a Hawkins v Bingham final.
What a waste of a perfectly good week if it comes to that.
That's the final I want.
Yes, I am serious.

Hopefully not another whitewash in a Final like that year

You should worry about whether or not you'll even get another point in this contest. Baby steps and all that.

anyway back to the important stuff.
John in this match highlighted why winning the World Championship is beyond him now he is so inconsistent from match to match never mind having to play 3 or 4 session matches.

I predicted Ronnie to beat Selby 6-3. That's good enough for me.

Toys out of the pram mentality, IMO.

What a difference from Higgins compared to his last match, where he was majestic. Yes, there were still moments tonight, where he showed his class - but there were far too many uncharacteristic weaknesses in his game there. Some poor misses coupled with an un-Higgins-like lack of composure at crucial times.
he's still got the ability, but finding it on a consistent basis seems to be the challenge now.
However, one crumb of comfort is that this is the Masters, and although prestigious, doesn't have any bearing on the ranking list.
A quick glance at this season's (one year) list sees Higgins comfortably at the top, with more than double the points of the 4th placed player.
It's too early to be writing his snooker obituary just yet!

Yesterday afternoon after the Trump/Robertson match Hazel asked John Parrott and Stephen Hendry who would win this match and they dismissed Bingham's chances. They were dismissive of the fact Bingham is the current world champion and just assumed Higgins - with the better track record - was going to win. I'm glad they were proven wrong. It just goes to show great snooker players make lousy 'experts' when predicting winners!

They probably forgot that Bingham won the WC, knowing them.
