Yet again the Winner of this Will miss the start of the season as a pro

Aussie Open qualifiers start 1st of June but the effect this season is not as bad as the last few years with the Cancellation of the Wuxi Classic.

But even so how hard can it be after a few yeas to organize this to finish before the pro snooker season starts.

Also, there will be some amateurs playing in this tourney who participate in the World Cup, which literally starts a couple days later in China.

Ben Harrison has withdrawn.

EDIT Also Sergiy Isayenko of Ukraine

No shocks but a couple of fancied players pushed to a decider - Sam Thomas of Wales by Russia's Barseg Petrosyan and Finland's Antti Tolvanen by Danijel Vranjes of Bosnia Herzegovina.

Welsh player Tyler Rees also lost (4-2), but no surprise as Israel's Maor Shalom is always pretty competitive.

A very healthy 36 countries represented.

Bit surprised to see Scotland's Lee Main struggling in Group B, losses to Finland's Janne Hummastenniemi and Croatia's Tin Venos.

Good win for fellow Scot Robert Carlisle, beat Israel's Maor Shalom 4-2.

Nine year old Iulian Boiko of Ukraine doing quite well, 4-1 win over Karel Petracek (Czechia) and although he only took a frame against Sigurdur Kristjansson of Iceland, actually was scoring in each frame.

Elfed Evans one and only attempt to turn pro was in 2003/2004 but after 7 matches and 2 wins that was it for him but he is a constant performer in the Masters these days alongside Darren Morgan

A few results that could affect seeding for the knockout stages ...
Antonis Poullos (Cyprus) 4 - 2 Marcin Nitschke (Poland)
Sam Thomas (Wales) 4 - 0 Paul Schopf (Austria)
Andres Petrov (Estonia) 4 - 2 Sigurdur Kristjansson (Iceland)
Lukas Krenek (Czechia) 4 - 2 Sascha Lippe (Germany)
Tomasz Skalski (Belgium) 4 - 3 Andreas Ploner (Austria)
Krzysztof Wróbel (Poland) 4 - 1 Vilius Schulte (Lithuania)
Vilius Schulte (Lithuania) 4 - 3 Rune Kampe (Denmark)
Declan Lavery (Northern Ireland) 4 - 1 Ismail Türker (Turkey)

Just a quick note of who is unbeaten so far in the mens ...

Group A Kristján Helgason (Iceland); Antonis Poullos (Cyprus)
B Kacper Filipiak (Poland)
C Michael collumb (Scotland); Sam Thomas (Wales)
D Andres Petrov (Estonia)
E Brendan O`Donoghue (Ireland); Lukas Kleckers (Germany)
F Greg Casey (ireland); Roman Dietzel (Germany)
G Antony Parsons (England); Brian Cini (Malta)
H John Whitty (England); Lukas Krenek (Czechia)
J Ray Fry (Northern Ireland); Tomasz Skalski (Belgium)
K Jason Peplow (Malta); Adam Stefanów (Poland)
M Mateusz Baranowski (Poland)
N Krzysztof Wróbel (Poland)
P Michael Wild (England); Shachar Ruberg (Israel)
Q Declan Lavery (Northern Ireland)
R Jamie Clarke (Wales); Aaron Busuttil (Malta)

There are no unbeaten players in Group L, instead four players with 3 wins from 4 - Robert Carlise (Scotland), Tyler Rees (Wales), Jurian Heusdens (Belgium) and Maor Shalom (Israel) - a bit of an aside, I'd fancy all of these players to beat anyone in Group Q, not sure how the seeding for that came about.

EDIT - very surprised how badly Germanys Felix Frede is doing, from what I've seen in the past not far behind his compatriots Lukas Kleckers and Roman Dietzel, but not a single win here.

A few group results from the leading players (affecting the knockout draw) - a good day if you're Irish, a bad day for German speakers and the Welsh ...

A Kristján Helgason (Iceland) 4 - 1 Antonis Poullos (Cyprus)
C Michael Collumb (Scotland) 4 - 0 Sam Thomas (Wales)
E Brendan O'Donoghue (Ireland) 4 - 0 Lukas Kleckers (Germany)
F Greg Casey (Ireland) 4 - 0 Roman Dietzel (Germany)
H John Whitty (England) 4 - 1 Lukas Krenek (Czechia)
J Ray Fry (Northern Ireland) 4 - 3 Andreas Ploner (Austria)
L Robert Carlisle (Scotland) 4 - 2 Tyler Rees (Wales)
L Maor Shalom (Israel) 4 - 3 Jurian Heusdens (Belgium)
N Rune Kampe (Denmark) 4 - 2 Krzysztof Wróbel (Poland)
R Aaron Busuttil (Malta) 4 - 3 Jamie Clarke (Wales)

and Felix Frede won a match ...

Re: EBSA European Champs 2015 2-13 June Prague

Postby roy142857

Little surprise regarding which four players are unbeaten in the Ladies tournament group stages - Wendy Jans (Belgium), Tatjana Vasiljeva (Latvia) and Russia's Daria Sirotina and Anastasia Nechaeva ...

... however, a couple of players are standing out for having done almost as well as those four so far and are perhaps a little less expected - Nastya Toumilovitch of Belarus and Melissa Eens of Belgium have each won four of five matches played so far. Less unexpectedly, Germany's Diana Stateczny has won three from four matches.

In group A (clearly the toughest group) Christelle Pedat (France), Małgorzata Sikorska (Poland), Irina Gorbataya (Russia) and Yana Shut (Belarus) all lost to Wendy Jans and are battling with each other for the 3 remaining spots - Pedat beat Shut, Shut beat Sikorska, Sikorska beat Gorbataya, Gorbataya and Sikorska beat Pedat ...

At least Clarke was competitive.

Felix Frede has won a second time, and it'll be enough to see him through to the knockout stages.

Welsh players Elfed Evans and Darren Morgan still haven't dropped a frame in the Masters, other Masters unbeaten players - Wayne Brown (England), Colin Bingham (Northern Ireland), Lasse Petersen (Denmark), Jamie Bodle (England), Joris Maas (Netherlands), Yvan Van Velthoven (Belgium), Stephane Ochoiski (France) and Finand's Jani Kananen, who squeaked past Ireland's Tom O'Driscoll with a 3-2 win.

In Masters Group H Keith Sheldreck (Ireland), Allan Norvark (Denmark) and Murat Ayas (Switzerland) each have one loss.

Quite a spread of ages in the Mens - several players could compete in the Masters but are in this - Rene Dikstra is 52, others 40+ are Kristján Helgason, Rune Kampe, Richard Van Leeuwen, Jason Peplow, Sanjin Kusan and Mika Hummelin.

And at the other end, still quite a few players in their teens ... Ivan Kakovsky (16), Mateusz Baranowski (17), Lukas Kleckers (19), Simonas Dragunas (19), Brian Cini (18), Tyler Rees (16), Rodion Judin (17), Andres Petrov (18), Maor Shalom (18), Spasian Spasov (19) and (despite being an 'ex pro') Kacper Filipiak (19) ... and there are 7 players listed as being 20 years old.
