Wow! Worst upset I have ever watched on livestream.
After a 40+ break and a good long red to put the match beyond doubt, Cao Yupeng qualifies for the Last 32 by beating R. Walden 4-0.

I wouldn't call it an upset, Cao "Eric" Yupeng showed us what he's capable of at the Crucible last year

Ryan Day is the first player to reach to quarter finals with a 4-1 win over Graeme Dott. Looks like it's a good chance for him to claim his first ever title (carrying ranking points).
Just realised, also, that Ryan made his first career maximum on his previous match against Cao!

Surely Jimmy White isn't going to be whitewashed? He's been whitewashing others this week.

Sure, he is showing great potential to be a top 16 player soon. The match against Day, who has confidence after his first 147 will be difficult, but if Oliver can get over the line(s), he will give a boost in his career very early.

Ding and Bingham meet again ^-^ I wonder why Ding finds it so difficult to beat Bingham according to their head-to-head meetings?

Ding or Bingham has to win this or Ali Carter will be out of the Champion of Champions despite all the campaign to get him in it.

It's a pity they have to meet so early, otherwise there would have been a better chance that one of them would win. But now one of them will have to finish off the other, and then we can only rely on that one player :/

I wonder, at what tournament Oliver Lines will pass his father, Peter, in the rankings? It's very likely to happen this season! Currently Peter Lines is ranked 61.
Ollie was at 93, but has already risen to 88 after his efforts here. A win over Ryan Day would shoot him up to 83.
And, a victory in the semi-final would see him rise to 77! But, he'd only gain one further place, 76th if he captured the title! These are my calculations and are likely to be erroneous! But only slightly, as the Snooker.org provisional rankings are very reliable - it's my arithmetic that's not!

Oli Lines goes 3-1 up on Day, while Ding was 66 points ahead in the fourth but Bingo clears with a 67 to whitewash him.
