There's the Walnut though, he's reached the final three times so he might very well get to another one and win.

This tournament isnt on the the Main Tour its a independent event but with 2 weeks without Main Tour action it gives players playing opportunity and as it stands Ali Carter first action of the season.

Re: General Cup

It kicks off today at 11am BST when Liang Wenbo takes on Lin Yongzhi of China.

Lin Yongzhi has played in 8 Asian Tour events winning just 3 Matches and in the Haining Open next week Lin Yongzhi will play former Pro Sean O'Sullivan in the Last 128.

Liang Wenbo won the match 6-4 and goes forward in to the Round Robin stage in Group B With Shaun Murphy, Marco Fu and Ali Carter.

Re: General Cup

I knew Liang Wenbo would win ^-^

Re: General Cup

Defending Champion Mark Davis took a convincing step towards towards winning it again with a 4-0 win over Joe Perry in Group A.

In Group B Shaun Murphy takes a early 2-0 advantage over Liang Wenbo

Re: General Cup

Shaun Murphy beats Liang Wenbo 4-1 ....in the 5th frame Liang Wenbo was chasing a max but broke down and Murphy took the frame and the match.

Re: General Cup

Nice to see Carter back and playing well :)

If it weren't for snooker island, I wouldn't know any of the scores in this tournament. Then again, if it wasn't because of snooker island I'd be searching for those results elsewhere, lol.

Re: General Cup

in the Final Match of the day Ricky Walden defeats Jimmy White 4-2

Re: General Cup

Postby Wildey

In the first match of the day Shaun Murphy beat Ali Carter 4-1 with a top break of 92 in the opening frame.

in the second match Jimmy White pulled back from 3-0 down to 3-3 with a 5th frame 86 against Mark Davis and in the decider jimmy is 30-0 down but back in

Re: General Cup

Jimmy White wins 4-3

Re: General Cup

After 2 Matches played and winning one match 4-3 Jimmy White is still in 3rd place in Group A on frame difference.

leading Group A is Mark Davis having played 2 Matches but on 1 point ....Ricky Walden is the only player yet to lose a match and will play Joe Perry at 1pm BST today

Re: General Cup

Postby Wildey

Final 2 matches today Liang Wenbo beat Marco Fu 4-3 and Joe Perry beat Ricky Walden 4-0.

that means that the only guy guaranteed in the Semi Finals is Shaun Murphy with 2 wins out of 2.

with no wins so far Marco Fu is hanging by a thread but there is a thread there for him.

as Mignon pointed out there is no action tomorrow the next match is Ricky Walden v Mark Davis at 7am BST on thursday.

Re: General Cup

And Marco Fu's the home favourite, too. O_o

Re: General Cup

First Match of the final day of the Group stage Mark Davis leads Ricky Walden 3-1.

who ever wins in this Group today goes through to the Semi finals its basicly a Knockout in this group with everyone starting the day on 1 point.

Re: General Cup

Mark Davis wins 4-1.

Next Match is from Group B Ali Carter vs Liang Wenbo and the Winner of this Match will go through to the Semi Finals with Shaun Murphy.

Marco Fu is already out.

Re: General Cup

Good luck to Ali Carter.

Re: General Cup

Postby Wildey

Ali Carter beat Liang Wenbo 4-2 from 2-0 down with a top break of 105 to join Mark Davis and Shaun Murphy in the semi finals.

only 1 place up for grabs in the semi finals Joe Perry v Jimmy White is up next.

with the final Match of the day Shaun Murphy v Marco Fu a dead rubber but it could determine who plays who in the semi finals

Re: General Cup

That was a great comeback from Ali Carter.

It would be interesting if Jimmy White reached the semi-finals too.
