The African Snooker Championship and African Six Reds Snooker Championship will be held in Khartoum, Sudan from 1st - 9th August 2014.
The winner and runner-up of the African Six Reds get invites to take on the Pros at the Sangsom 6 Reds World Championship in September.
Previously there's been a place on the Pro Tour on offer to the winner of the main Championship, who given the dates would certainly start late.

African Snooker have had confirmation from the WPBSA that they will accept the nomination of the winner of this despite the late date of the Championships.

Looking at the website - looks like this has been cancelled at short notice.
Wonder if it will be rescheduled/there will be no nomination to the pro tour this year or the African board will be asked to nominate someone to take up the place.

Yes, not sure what is going on but last years Six Red finalists Ahmed Galal of Egypt and Chaouki Yousfi from Morocco have been selected to play in Sangsom World Six Reds in September, so clearly a problem with the tournament.

Quite clearly the african Qualifier isnt really needed to fill out the draws in Main Ranking Event there are already 128 Main tour players plus Davis and Wattana then Q School Top ups.
so if they cant be bothered trying to get players on tour i don't think they will get a nomination.

I guess there wont be one this year. It was already rescheduled like 5 times because the host country had withdrew. They should have held it with the 6red and team in Egypt. They didnt probably because the African federation has different table and cloth sponsor.
