Australian Goldfields Open Semi Final Discussion !!!

Monday 30th of June~Sunday 6th of July in Bendigo, Australia

Neil Robertson is still on course to Add his home event to a already impressive CV. But still there and very capable to ruin the party is Former UK Champion Judd Trump.

Mark Davis who reached the Semi Final here in 2012 will be hoping to go one better this time around, and Xiao Guodong will be playing in his 2nd World Ranking semi final having won his previous semi final against Michael Holt in shanghai Last year.

Who will reach the final?

He should 'on paper' be confident with a 7-6 lifetime lead over the Aussie! But in reality, he'll be very much the underdog.
I've never viewed Mavis as ranking-event final material, but here he is, again, on the verge....!

in Major Ranking Events Robbo leads 3-1
In PTC Events Davis leads 1-0
in Championship League Davis leads 4-2
Robbo won in the Masters Qualifying event in 2003 and Davis won in the 6 Reds World Championship Final in 2013.

9 of the last 13 ranking tournaments have been won by non British Players Neil Robertson and for that matter Xiao Guodong will be looking to extent that to 10.

If he gets to a ranking event final, he's ranking event final material.

If he doesn't, he isn't.

Judd Trump has reached his 7th World Ranking Final and his second of 2014 having lost 9-5 to Ding Junhui in Germany.

its been almost 2 years since he won his last title The International Championship where he beat Neil Robertson 10-8 in the Final.

Since then Neil Robertson has won 4 World Ranking titles.

Judd Trump v Xiao Guodong


In frame one Judd Opened up with a break of 114 with his first chance, and went off and running in the second frame leading 48-0 with a break of 36 but Xiao Guodong came back and won the frame with a closing break of 54.

In frame 3 it was Xiao turn to get off first making 31 but with his second century a break of 101 Judd Trump won it to lead 2-1 and in the next frame Judd made it 3-1 with a break of 67.

Xiao Guodong immediately hit back to take the first after the interval with a break of 62 the corner stone of the frame and in the next Judd got close to his 3rd century break which finished at 94 and the score was 4-2 Trump.

Frame 7 was a bits and pieces frame with 38 being the top break but Xiao Guodong took it and close the gap to 4-3.

That was the last points Xiao Guodong got as Judd Trump closed out the match 6-3 with breaks of 67 and a 69.

Mark Davis going about break building in a very amateurish way so even if he had potted that pink it was only a matter of time before he made a mistake.

Maybe he needs a Hendry session? And then next season HE'LL be going for the tons of tons...

the likes of Ronnie or Ding would have played for blue in that break before tying the black up on the pink spot and work on clearing the black spot area
