Despite not reaching the height of other players that turned pro around the same time Mark Davis has played on the Main Tour consecutive since 1991 with 119 being his lowest ever ranking during the 1992/1993 season . It took him 19 years on tour to break in to the top 32 with the Majority of his career he was ranked between 78 and 35.
But at the age of 41 he is touted as possibly a Ranking tournament winner. The Australian Open gave Stuart Bingham and Barry Hawkins their first major tournament so can Mark Davis equal their feat this week?

I hope so. He seems like a thoroughly nice lad.

Xiao managed to win it in the end, I think he had only one frame in which he started ahead, all the other ones he had to come back, in the 8th Ebdon opened with a 60ish break, the 9th followed a similar path.

Woke early, couldn't get back to sleep, so got up to check the scores :
Bingham bt. Joyce 5-2
Xiao edged Ebbo 5-4
Trump 3-0 up on Angles. No word yet on what troosers he's sporting, but they may change at the MSI...

Looks like no huge shocks so far. Ebdon made Xiao work a bit harder than I expected but that's it.
Walden is currently 4-2 and was 4-1 up on Gould, but that's not done yet. Ricky has wobbled from well in front at times...

Just watching the highlights on ES and I can confirm McManus is wearing the troosers. I think he's almost obliged to now whenever he's on TV...

Walden gets over the line the frame after I say he could wobble
Faces Judd. That could be interesting. I think they haven't faced each other often (in proper matches)

Massive Difference though Robbo is still a champion Higgins isnt.
Remember Hendry making a 147 against Maguire in the opening frame of the Welsh Open last 16 in 2011 after that he was like bambi trying to walk.

Of course. Just saying that opening with a century doesn't guaranteed victory.
Anyway, Robbo goes 2-0 with an 86. I'm guessing Robbo wants to let Jones know that he won't be as easy as Mags, if he didn't know already.

Nicks the high break off Mavis as well, a 140 to beat Mavis's 139.

Great clearance from Robbo and he takes the fourth on the pink. 4-0.
Meanwhile Mavis is 3-1 up on Smurph. Mavis seems to be a really good really season player.

Peter Ebdon must be sick he was Leading 4-3 then made a break of 61 only to see Xiao Guodong level the match with a break of 67 and then in the Decider Ebdon went ahead with a break of 46 the highest break in the decider but Xiao Guodong replied with a 42 and then in bit and pieces closed out the win.

Im slightly surprised about that score considering Murphy played pretty well in Wuxi and Mavis playing his first tournament

And that's frame and match ball. Complete thrashing.
If he plays like this again, can't see anyone else winning. Of course the form player doesn't always win...

I've got a six-pack in my fridge.
Will I spend this Sunday like I did the previous Sunday? Drinking lager, and watching Robertson win a trophy?

Aussie TV don't have cameras on the other table. Nothing ES can do.
