IBSF World Six Reds & World Team 18-29 Jun in Egypt

Postby roy142857

Surprised to see Pankaj Advani is playing this, partners Brijesh Damani in the Mens Team event (India 1).

A little (but not a lot) surprised to see Ahmed Saif in the field, partnered by Mohsen Bukshaisha in the Qatar 1 team.

Less surprised to see Hossein Vafaei Ayouri is going from the Asian Under 21s to this as he can't get on the Pro Tour, partners Ehsan Heydari Nezhad in the second Iranian team.

Mohamed Khairy is partnered with Yasser El Sherbeeny in the Egypt 2 team.

Rodney Goggins is planning to go from the European Championship to this, partners Brendan O'Donoghue in the Ireland 1 team.

Also headed there from the Europeans are Kacper Filipiak and Mateusz Baranowski (Poland 3), and their compatriot Krzysztof Wróbel is joined in the Poland 1 team by Michał Zieliński, whilst Patryk Masłowski is joined in the Poland 2 team by Marcin Nitschke.

Other notable teams

Callum Downing / Nick Jennings (England)
Greg Casey / Karl Fitzpatrick (Ireland 2)
Gareth Allen / Jamie Clarke (Wales)
Andy Lee / Raymond Fung (Hong Kong 1)
Kamal Chawla/Dharminder Lilly (India 2)
Sourav Kothari / Shivam Arora (India 3)
Soheil Vahedi / Amir Sarkhosh (Iran 1)
Muhammad Asif / Muhammad Sajjad (Pakistan)
Omar Alkojah / Karam Fatima (Syria)
Boonyarit Keattikun / Kritsanut Lertsattayathorn (Thailand)
Mohammad Rais Senzahi / Nadir Khan Sultani (Afghanistan)
Cale Barrett / Ryan Thomerson (Australia 1)
Yousfi Chaouki / Akdi Soulaimane (Morocco)
Mohamed Shehab / Mohammed Aljoaker (UAE 1)

Other countries represented in the Mens are France, Jordan, Kuwait, Libya, Mongolia, Palestine, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Tunisia and Yemen.

A small but quality field in the Womens event, sadly no teams yet from the British Isles (entries are taken until Sunday).

Jessica Woods / Kathy Parashis (Australia 1)
Sue Martin / Kathy Howden (Australia 2)
Gantan El-Askary / Maha Helmy (Egypt)
Zoe Ng On Yee / Ka Kai Wan (Hong Kong)
Vidya Pillai / Amee Kamani (India 1)
Chitra M / Neeta Sanghvi (India 2)
Revanna Umadevi / Arantxa Sanchis (India 3)
Malgorsata Sikorska / Aleksandra Wojtecka (Poland)
Anastasia Nechaeva / Daria Sirotina (Russia)
Amornrat Uamduang / Siripaporn Nuanthakhamjan (Thailand)

And Darren Morgan another headed for this after the Europeans, playing in the Masters partnered with Elfed Evans. Two Irish teams in the Masters, Keith Sheldrick & Dylan Rees are Ireland 1, Stephen Merrigan & Brendan Thomas are Ireland 2. And ex-pro Tai Pichit (aka Chuchart Trairattanapradit) has entered this too! Partnered by Phisit Chandsri in the Thailand team. Saleh Mohammad, Afghanistan's 2013 Asian Snooker Champion, is old enough to be in the Masters event, he's partnered by Zemarai Hassas.

Generally the players in the Mens and Masters Team Championships are also the competitors in the Mens Six Reds, but there are normally some differences (an extra Iranian, Moroccan and Pole for instance). At the moment there are Iraqi players just entered for the Six Reds, don't know if that's a mistake. Not sure which Muhammad Asif is entered for the Team event for Pakistan, but they're both entered for the Six Reds.

Neena Praveen from India is only entered in the Womens Six Reds, plus there are 3 Moroccan women and a Syrian.

Thanks for the info Gaz - any idea how they're allocating the other 2 places, or was their original comment that they'd got six places wrong? You looking forward to this, supposed to be a great resort ? :-)

Another good pairing in the Mens, Duncan Bezzina and Alex Borg of Malta have been added to the field, and individually to the Six Reds field.

Now only one Muhammad Asif listed for the Mens Six Reds.

Additional entry in the Womens Six Reds is Tatjana Vasiljeva of Latvia.

Another good entry added to the Mens Team, a 5th Indian team - Laxman Rawat and Faisal Khan. India have now found a partner for Neena Praveen in the Womens, she'll play with Indira Thamme Gowda (as India 4). The 3 new players are also added to their respective Six Red competitions.

And also a South African team added to the Mens, both players in the Six Reds too.

Now five Libyan teams in the Mens Team, Libya 4 includes young prospect Adem Gerwash, partnered by another young player Abdulmoez Alarbi (they're 20 and 21 respectively).

One extra Afghan player added to the Mens Six Reds field only - Hashmatullah Nezami.

One of the Moroccan women has withdrawn from the Womens Six Reds.

I'm not sure how they get 6. Possibly IBSF World Champion in Men and Masters. That makes sense to me.

Can't wait to go, 5* all inclusive in the sun - what's not to like! Oh ye, the fact we have to play snooker!

Re: IBSF World Six Reds & World Team 18-29 Jun in Egypt

Postby roy142857

So many players in the Mens Six Reds Championship that there are 12 groups of six players and 20 groups of 5 players.

Group winners go straight into the Last 64, 2nd and 3rd in each group will be in a 'Last 96' qualifying round.

One group of six players and 4 of five players in the Womens Six Reds, top 3 in each go through to a 'Last 15' - presume this means one player gets a Bye.

Mens Team event, there's 4 groups with six teams, 8 groups with five teams. Supposedly going through to a 'Last 18', obviously group winners but not sure how they'd decide which 2nd place teams ...

In the Masters Team event, 3 groups of five teams, 1 group of 4 teams going through to a Last 12 - group winners to the quarter finals, group 2nd/3rd place teams play each other.

In the Womens Team event one group of six teams, 1 group of five teams, winners to the semis, play-offs group 2nd place vs 3rd place from other group.

They have an incredible amount of snooker to play!

A quick run down of where things are in the Women's Six Reds

Russia's Anastasia Nechaeva has completed her Group C matches and is undefeate.

In Group A every player has completed 4 of their 5 matches, India's Arantxa Sanchis is undefeated, Hong Kong's Ka Kai Wan and Tatjana Vasiljeva of Latvia have 3 wins each and play each other tomorrow.

In Group B Zoe Ng On Yee has 3 wins from 3 whilst Australia's Kathy Parashis has 3 wins having completed her 4 matches.

In Group D both Aussie Jessica Woods and Daria Sirotina of Russia are undefeated, they play each other in their final group match on Tuesday. Neena Praveen of India lost to both, but won her other 2 matches.

Vidya Pillai of India has won 3 from 3, and Thailand's Amornrat Uamduang 2 from 2, so both are undefeated in Group E. They play each other on Tuesday.

As well as Wael Talaat's record-breaking 83 break in the Mens Six Reds (he also had a 71), a definite :hatoff: to Mikhail Terekhov of Russia, aged 13 and managing a break of 73.

Top break so far in the Womens Six Reds is Anastasia Nechaeva with a very respectable 47.
