There is a qualifying competition to get the 2 wild cards
viewtopic.php?f=275&t=5367#p332654 and yes 2 of the qualifiers i presume 2 lowest rank qualifiers will be playing the wild cards.

Lawler gets one back, 2-4 down no real notable breaks.

Rod back to 3-4.
Luca was 54 points up, but still lost the frame, needs to get more 70s or 80s.

Liam Highfield has reached the last 48 in 5 tournaments his best result previously and 3 of those was in the Australian Open in 2011, 2012 and 2013 but in 2014 hes gone one step further and in his second tournament after getting another chance through Q School. Hopefully this will be a chance that liam will take with both hands. Incidentally the man he will face in Australia is Xiao Guodong who beat him 5-4 in the Wuxi Classic Last 128 Only last week.

Luca wins 5-3.
Great win, but following on live score only is very nervous. Nicking the frame before MSI was brilliant and key.
Got Stevens in Aus, bar any wildcard. Could have been worse.
Might be better to get the wildcard out of the way in Aus as the they are not as strong as the Chinese ones.
Are wildcard draws still random or lowest ranked not selected before in the season?

Rod Lawler 3-5 Luca Brecel
Luca Brecel reaches his 4th Last 32 of a ranking event his second of 2014 after he reached the last 16 of the china open but he had the aid of a Mark Allen withdrawal in that tournament. This week hes beaten Daniel Wells, Nigel Bond and now Rod Lawler.

I think its random. Last year we had Mike Dunn (started at Last 96 stage) and Michael White (Last 48 entrant) play wild cards whilst Noppon Saengkham (started at the Last 128) and other Last 96 starters avoided a wild card match up.
EDIT: Mike Dunn was seed 47. Seeds 50, 51, 58 and an Unranked player avoided wild cards

Bolton can be a handful, brings his billiards excellence to the snooker table at times. Better to draw Dalitz!

Bolton topped his group in the IBSF World Championship last year, but was knocked out at the Last 32 stage by Lee Walker.
