Players always want to defend a title no matter what (unless you're Ronnie of course) but if he feels that trip may be too tiring or for whatever other reason then I don't see much harm in him not defending it, it's not like it's a Major tourney like the UK, Masters and Worlds, ok it's an important one nevertheless but he should manage his season if he wants to in order to be in full shape for the Worlds.

Wild may argue you can't really peak like that for the Worlds, but too many trips to the Far East can prove very draining for a player, and since he'll play in the World Open skipping the China Open is definately an option.

But having said all this, I've many doubts he will.

Yea you cant really peak for a tournament i always thought Ebdon was a Bit of a twerp when he said in December im working on Peaking for the World Championship it doesn't Work like that.

Players could be in the Form of their Life and not play in a tournament and in rubbish form when they Decide to play, its pot luck most of the time.

Having said that if a player needs a break take a break its their decision and their right to do that but don't think it will Help him become World Champion because it wont.

Good luck Judd Trump and Peter Ebdon! I must say that I was a really, really impressed about snooker Judd played during the German Masters, espicially against Rod Lawler. Those three centuries were just quite an incredible job. That snooker is probably the best I have ever seen since starting to follow the game somewhere 2003 or 2004. But must be said Ronnie has played quite incredibly good too during the Premier League.

Really looking forward this spring now. How Judd will keep it up, and so on..

I was there in the Tempodrom when Judd destroyed Rod and it was something to behold. That said, he started missing when the pressure was put on his game in the final.

An excellent win for Allan Taylor, beating Matthew Stevens 4-1.

Peter Lines beat Xiāo Guódòng 4-3 to keep alive his chances of having a 'back up plan' to staying in the Top 64, likewise Steve Davis with a win against Wojciech Przylucki.

Losses for Paul Davison and James Wattana kill their chances of getting back on the Tour next year via the European Order of Merit.

Matt Selt beat Ahmed Saif 4-2, looks at least like Saif was competitive in this one, maybe starting to get towards the standard needed.

Re: Gdynia Open (European Tour 8) Discussion !!

Postby roy142857

The (rather remote) chances Daniel Wells, Chén Zhé and Michael Leslie had of getting back on Tour via the European Order of Merit have disappeared with their respective losses. Martin O'Donnell really needs to win against Jak Jones, he could be the player who just scrapes in or misses out looking at the current positions - level at 2-2 at the moment

Good to see Mike Dunn fighting for his place, his match against Steve Davis could be important for both players, and they're on the same points as each other on the Order of Merit ... wish that match was being shown somewhere but guess not?
