Can't believe how tough a section of the amateur draw Ben Harrison's landed in ... rather suspect the other players will be looking longingly at other parts of the draw too - David Singh, Ashley Carty, Lukas Kleckers (best young player in Germany), Andreas Ploner (best young player in Austria) and Jordan Brown - Kleckers and Ploner drawn against each other in their first match ... bet Gaz Allen and Kishan Hirani aren't thrilled to be drawn against each other in their first match either ...

The qualifying situation for this tournament is farcical quite frankly. Some players are having to win 4 matches in a day to qualify and then another match win to get any money. They should've changed the qualifying criteria for this tournament.

the problem is there's 128+ main tour players.

the situation is if there's 128 main tour players there will be no room for Amateurs and if there was 127 main tour players all the amateurs will be playing 7, 8 even 9 rounds just to get 1 player to go through to the last 128.

There was no 147 at the Bluebell open although Ding Junhui got close to it with a break of 146 but no rollover prize for that one.

For a 147 at the Paul Hunter Classic the Prize Pot is £2,000.

So the matches really start at 8am? Sheesh!

Last night I watched the 2004 Masters final between Ronnie and Paul on youtube. What a lovely spirit Paul was - even at 6 - 1 down he was smiling and waving to people in the crowd, then knocked in a century to make it 6 -2 as if he was having a knockabout at his local club. Ace.

They've got to, really. There's a lot of matches to get through in the PTCs. Even starting at 8am, there'll be somebody still playing at gone midnight.

Besides, what's 8am? Half the day's gone. :-D
