Re: Indian Open Last 128 Discussion !!

Postby SnookerFan

Last 64 has thrown up some good matches.

A good mixture of veterans, top-16ers and lesser known players. I guess that's what Hearn wants from this new qualifying structure. :hatoff:

Has Drago not scratched himself as the world seniors start on the Saturday?? I thought ranking points would have been more important.. Could be his last season on the tour me thinks

Not entirely sure how it works, but people like ROS don't lose money when they haven't entered, but if you win a game and have to withdraw due to your best mate's final, you are fined £250! If Trump, ROS, Selby etc did this they wouldn't receive the treatment Gilb has got, joke as usual!

Currently, he would re=qualify for the tour via the PTC Order Of Merit but it would still be a gamble with tournaments still to play to rely on that. He either wants to take that risk, feels he can do enough to qualify via other means, fancies his chances at Q School or isn't bothered if he falls off the tour.

This was an opportunity for Drago but he's a longish way back (£12000 or so) on the end of season money list.

It's a big opportunity for a number of others to gain ground on those with 'possession' of 55th - 64th place on the end of season money ranking as only 4 of those players made the venue, including the already-withdrawn Yú Délù.

A surprisingly-high 9 players of the 13 within £10,000 of 64th place made the venue, a real opportunity to close the gap (by £1000 for one win, by £4000 for two wins).

For the record, the players who might 'seize the opportunity' and who they are playing in the first round (or wild card then first round):

Zhāng Āndá (plays Alan McManus)
Mike Dunn (Ken Doherty)
Liú Chuǎng (Stuart Bingham)
Barry Pinches (Dīng Jùnhuī)
Robbie Williams (Manan Chandra then Kyren Wilson)
Thanawat Thirapongpaiboon (Lǚ Hàotiān)
James Wattana (Ratchayothin Yotharuck)
Paul Davison (Faisal Khan then Stephen Maguire)
Chén Zhé (Hammad Miah)

That's useful for those of us who want to get it taped.

well at the start of the season the tournament itself was non existent and was added later so don't moan you Mark Allen wannabe.
