Sunday 11th ~ Monday 12th of August at the Doncaster Dome

After a few years in the pipeline The Indian Open has arrived.

But before 64 players make the trip over to delhi in October the Last 128 will be played in Doncaster with two Indian Players Pankaj Advani and the newly crowned World Games Snooker Champion Aditya Mehta hoping to get the better of their higher ranked opponents to make the trip.

World Champion Ronnie O'Sullivan once again has declined the invite but the field is full of Quality.

Mark Selby and Shaun Murphy Worlds no 2 and 4 respectively who succumbed in the last 128 of the Wuxi Classic will be hoping lightning doesn't strike twice and book their place in delhi.

Neil Robertson who has had a great start to the season will be Top Seed.

Who will win their matches and get to delhi?

How is that disgraceful, you mug? <doh>

Behave yourself, ask the question without the insult.
Best of sevens should NEVER be used outside of ptc's, so yes, disgraceful.

Not sure about 'disgraceful' but not impressed with this, I like the PTCs being best of 7 but the larger ranking events should be at the very least best of 9. Don't think this does the event any favours, but hoping this is just for this year whilst they test out how they are organising the event - so they're probably forgiven this by me (but probably not Wild) for this year ... surely semis and final at least could both add another couple of frames though ...

Maybe India wants it this way, have you considered that?

Also Friday is a non-working day over there, kinda like how Sunday is here in the UK.

did not know that so thanks for the info <ok>

I'm off down tomorrow, should catch the end of first session. Looking forward to Gould v O'Sullivan as those two are always hanging out together and practice with each other, it'll be interesting to see how Sean gets on. I'm sure I'll have an eye on Passakorn v Perry as well because I don't think he should be playing. Perry shouldn't have any problems anyway because he's not one of the better Thai players.

Then evening session obviously you've got Doherty v Luca on the streamed table but I'm interested in Wattana v Ryan Clark as well as seeing how Kyren copes with Rory and his quicksand snooker. Also Dunn v Un-Nooh could be good.

yea when his match deserves to be stream he doesn't get it but today playing Ratchayothin Yotharuck he gets it while for many a more tasty encounter of Doherty v Luca don't get it.

you have to question who makes these decisions? maybe they close their eyes and use a pin.

Re: Indian Open Last 128 Discussion !!

Maybe they go for the highest ranked players in the session... which still makes Dott an odd choice as Walden is now higher ranked than. :chin:

Maybe they just go with the pin thing.

Yep,i agree there,(best of 7,s) and a (best of 9 final) is really poor to have in a ranking tourney, this should,nt be allowed to happen but as you wrote maybe it,s just cause they want to see how it goes,if it,s a success and gets popular then i,m sure,or at least hope that they,ll change it to (best of 9,s) in the future.

Right, I have it figured out. You stream the match involving the highest ranked player regardless of how inept his opponent. Unless of course Steve Davis, Jimmy White or Tony Drago is playing, then they get priority. This removes the tiresome bother of trying to determine what might actually be interesting.

Looks like that revenge thing didn't work out for Scott...

Weird how some matches have repeated themselves here. Wenbo beat Scott in Shanghai and then went on play David Morris (who's had a very good win against Stevens btw :hatoff: )and is doing so again in this event.
