Australian Goldfields Open Qualifying Discussion !!

Thursday 30th of May~Monday 3rd of June at the Capital Venue, Gloucester

In its 3rd year the Australian Goldfields Open will remain under the old tiered system and have 112 players in Gloucester over 5 days trying to book their flight over to Bendigo, Australia to face the top 16 seeds.

In the 1st Round Joe Swail, Gary Wilson, Jak Jones, Kyren Wilson, Patrick Einsle, Chris Norbury, and Andrew Norman are making a return to top flight snooker, and 15 year old Lu Haotian from China making his professional debut. Also in Round 1 although still amateurs or non Tour Players Oliver Brown, Shane Castle, Jamie Rhys Clarke, Phil O'Kane, Ben Harrison, Oliver Lines, and Sanderson Lam will be pitting their game against professionals.

The 2nd Round and Pankaj Advani, Jimmy White, Alan McManus, James Wattana, Cao Yupeng, Liu Chuang, Nigel Bond, Sam Baird, Luca Brecel, Aditya Mehta, Zhang Anda, Chen Zhe, and Ian Burns, Rookie of the Year, will be starting out on their quest for Bendigo.

In Round 3 32 players from Round 2 will be whittled down to 16 to go forward into Round 4 to play players that include Ryan Day, Fergal O'Brien, Peter Ebdon, Ken Doherty, Michael White, Xiao Guodong, Jamie Jones, and Jamie Cope.

Who will be the 16 players who will join Neil Robertson and Mark Selby in Australia?

its not random its whittling down the numbers from a block of 32 to a block of 16 in as little rounds as possible the way you suggest would mean 6 rounds of qualifying instead of 4.

No i mean... In the last 64... the winners of the last 96 are drawn together. But they are done so randomly.

What I would have liked to have seen, is the 33-48 seeds in the Last 96 matches be paired with seeds 49-64. if that makes sense

wont suport tournaments if new markets explode unless cash is on a level they mistakenly think they deserve.

Yea havent seen much of his name around the pro game over the last 3 years but he is coming across as very capable player at this level
