AC or LT? wrote:Doesn't that kind of defeat the object of PTCs to be pro-Am competitions if Amateurs can't play in them?

what was refreshing about the PTC Was the involvement of amateurs and boosting up the field to well over 250 players in some of the European ones especially the Paul Hunter Classic.

Sonny wrote:Well they're not strictly pro-am that's just how they were for the last 2 seasons before they had enough pros to fill out the draws.

Anyway, I've just had it confirmed from Matt that indeed if 128 players out of 133 enter a PTC then there is no room for amateurs. If 127 enter then all the amateurs who enter will play for that one vacant place.

on the subject of the Paul Hunter Classic it started life as a pro am it would be sad if the pro game kidnapped this event from it roots in the Amateur Game.

Re: Q SCHOOL 1

Postby AC or LT?

One thing they could do is make the PTCS first come first served for up to 96 pros and guarantee 32 amateur places. Although that could be unfair on the pros who enter late it at least keeps the spirit of PTCs alive as a route in for amateurs, now there just going to serve as an easy re-qualifying route for pros.

It sounds like Reanne realised she'd forgotten her waistcoat less than an hour before her match and had to go buy a new one. Careless!

Re: Q SCHOOL 1

Postby Wildey

so Q School 2013 is up and running

Elliot Slessor is already 1-0 up on Dylan Craig.

Friend of Snookerisland Ben Harrison is playing this morning currently 52-5 down in the first frame

Re: Q SCHOOL 1

Postby Roland

Sandi has taken the opener against Reanne.

Where have I heard the name Michael Georgiou before? Wasn't he one of those Hot Shots?

Julian Logue has rattled off the first 2 frames pretty quick. One to keep an eye on.

As for Ben, he really shouldn't be troubled by Grove after looking at his results on CueTracker. Reanne 4-0'd him twice at the last Q School.

Strange how they got Live Scoring for Q School and not for PTC Amateur rounds.

PTC Amateur rounds the players mark the games themselves. Referees and therefore the electronic scoring system doesn't kick in until the PTC round 1 proper.

yea but if they can get refs to mark 12 days of Q School why not PTC Amateur rounds.

Re: Q SCHOOL 1

Postby Roland

Because you'd have to hire god knows how many referees for 2 extra days and pay for all the live scoring, probably pay for the licensing and basically hardly anyone would be following it anyway. Amateurs are not professionals so shouldn't be treated as such. Q School is such an important event they need to officiate it properly plus it's in their Academy which is already set up with live scoring etc.

Anyway, Ben now 2-0 down to a player he should be murdering. Not good signs.

Re: Q SCHOOL 1

Postby Roland

Ben 3-0 down. God knows what's going on there. Groves is scoring in dribs and drabs and Ben has hardly potted a ball. Not good enough!

Reanne and Sandi 2-2

Julian Logue is first man through to round 2.

not been following live scores that close got stuff i need doing but lets hope Ben can pull things round at worst build up confidence for Q School 2

Re: Q SCHOOL 1

Postby Roland

The pattern is Groves gets in first, scores about 15 then Ben gets in, scores about 10 then Groves gets in with a 20 break, Ben gets 0 and Groves gets another 20 break etc etc. Same pattern and it's just happening again in frame 4!

Re: Q SCHOOL 1

Postby Roland

Slessor is through. Was 59 down in the last frame as well. Slessor a contender for this section without a doubt.

Ben Harrison wasent at the races with a total points haul of 62.

The star of the Morning was without doubt Julian Logue who dismissed Khizar Raoof very Quickly with breaks of 72, 62 and 59
