China Open Qualifying Discussion !!
Wednesday 9th~Saturday 12th of January at The World Snooker Academy,Sheffield
These days there are five ranking tournaments in China but back in 2005 when the China Open was re-established this was the only tournament in China with a top prize of £30,000. Today the top prize is £75,000 with most of the top players competing for the title won last year by Peter Ebdon who beat Stephen Maguire 10-9 in a long final.
Before the final stages in Beijing between 25th and 31st of March 80 players will be trying to qualify at the World Snooker Academy in Sheffield.
In round 1 Kurt Maflin, Pankaj Advani, Zhang Anda, Thanawat Tirapongpaiboon, Tony Drago, Ian Burns, Sean O'Sullivan and Scott Donaldson will be competing.
And in round 2 James Wattana, Liu Chuang, Luca Brecel, Alan McManus, Cao Yupeng, Mark Joyce and the Whirlwind Jimmy White will be joining the action.
Taking to the table in round 3 will be Xiao Guodong, Jamie Jones, Anthony Hamilton, Liang Wenbo, Nigel Bond, Jack Lisowski, David Gilbert, Michael White and six time World Champion Steve Davis.
Round 4 sees Marco Fu, Martin Gould, Barry Hawkins, Robert Milkins, Ryan Day, Andrew Higginson, Dominic Dale, Jamie Cope and 1997 World Champion Ken Doherty start out on their campaign.
