New IBSF President from Ireland

Postby roy142857

Have to say I know nothing of the politics of this, but Ireland's Jim Leacy successfully contested the IBSF Presidency against the existing President Pascal Guillaume (President since 2004). A really close vote, just two votes in it, saw Leacy take over as President.

A brief statement on the RIBSA website - "Jim Leacy Chairman of RIBSA was elected President of the IBSF tonight at the AGM in Bulgaria in front of all the countries delegates. This is a fantastic honour for Jim and for our Association to have an Irishman president of the world amateur game. In the vote Jim beat Pascal Guillaume from France 26 votes to 24".

Just to add, very close for the General Secretary position too, with the current General Secretary Mohammed Kammah (who is also President of the African Billiards & Snooker Federation) holding on to his position by a single vote. And Michael Al Khoury of Syria was elected Treasurer by a single vote, beating New Zealand's Ray Habgood.
