So because he decided to live in Berlin Jimmy White or Mohammed Khairy have to go all the way to Berlin to most likely be knocked out after their first match that they would've played here. The Chinese players don't get their qualifiers played in China for Chinese events, why's this any difference. In fact why are any qualifiers being played in Berlin in the first place?

yes that doesn't make a flatter system a "equal playing field" as has been suggested.

Qualifying matches have been held for the venue in the Welsh Open for years - those involving Day, Stevens and/or Dale - and nobody ever protested. It was done to please the sponsors and broadcasters. And I remember some matches involving Chinese qualifiers to be held to the venue some 2-3 years ago.
It's the same here. There is no guarantee that the top players - or the ones likely to put bums on seat - will make it to the venue. Hence this decision. It's purely commercial.
I personally don't agree with it, but then you guys should be consistent and also rant against it when it's done in other tournaments.
Dominic lives in Berlin and he's some character, so, I suppose they expect some massive local support for him.

Point is monique a tier system was never really a equal playing field but if they going to make things equal as a flat 128 draw with money rankings they then cant start carrying some matches to play in atmosphere of a venue and others in Sheffield boxes that's just not equal.

That's why I always said that all matches should be played at the venue, wherever that is. And it can only work if players cover their reasonable expenses if they win their first round match. So all the pointless cheap events will disappear or evolve in properly rewarded events. And that's how it should be.
