dam it i thought this topic was supose to be in snooker NEWS thats why i posted it there not seing this one.

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=636

when a mod comes available delete mine and move this <ok>

anyway
it might be a new callender however nothing much has changed apart from the European Masters.

all other tournaments was played this season under different names.

Pro Challenge 2009/2010 change to Player Tour Championship 2010/2011
Grand Prix changed to World Open

not the major changes witz was anticipating not by a long way.

i don't know if theres a change to the players on tour but interms of tournaments its the same. with no super sixes mentioned but there will be some comic shoot out whatever that is but overall i think Barry has kept things the same whitch makes me happy and if he puts on novelty events around that basis then its ok and it will work.

from global snooker wrote:The only major flaw that we can see in the proposal is the relegation of the bottom 32-players (33% of those on tour). The figure itself could be forgiven but the method of replacing these players does not seem to fit the ethos of rewarding excellence.

There are places allocated to each of the English, Irish (Northern & Republic) Scottish and Welsh associations. Asia gets three places and Europe a further two.

It would have seemed more logical to allocate all of these places into the Q School making a total of 22 places available. If the pro game wanted to feed the amateur associations then perhaps there could be ‘free’ Q School places up for grabs.

The IBSF World Champion gets a place, and rightly so. Whether his Under-21 counterpart is entitled can also be questioned.

Basically, through allocating places ‘on tour’ from a restricted source considers things like nationality and age. These factors are nothing to do with ability, which results in the sponsorship of mediocrity.

yes not a big fan of that criteria a english player with a brilliant ability loses out because of his nationality or hes slightly 2 old in favor of worst players that happen to be welsh, scotish or 18.

nothing changed there then.

Let's not jump the gun until we've seen the official proposals and not someone elses interpretation of them.

so far so good i don't think the tournament structure is to bad i still say we need 9 or 10 Ranking tournaments and hopefully that is on the cards there hasn't been that much change which i think is a good thing you need to dress up each tournament to look different and the structure for the UK ill be interested to know if theres changes for that ..4 tables just dont work for me in that.

no reason why we cant have ranking tournaments played with different formats ie first to 5 but if it gets to 4-4 its a race to 6 etc to make them look and feel different to each other.

Re: 2010/2011 Calendar Revealed!!!

Well I am glad the SM will now take place in September as August is far to early.
Obviously we have the Masters in January with 2 ranking events in February and the tour finals in march. 100% better than the crap we had this year ie. no tournament from Early Feb to late March.

There is a bi gap in ranking snooker between September to December, I would have liked to have seen the UK brought forward a few weeks. Anyway we might yet still see a ranking event held in that time period, so I wont get down on that.

Well done Barry <ok>

Re: 2010/2011 Calendar Revealed!!!

theres not much different in volume of snooker played however its put together better.

i agree.

i think whats most important about Hearn is he is well in with Sky where as the previous organisation fell out with sky.

so far barry has not changed the sport which is a good thing id like to see tournaments getting different formats though 2 china tournament following the same pattern seems stale there is things that can be done with them.

Re: 2010/2011 Calendar Revealed!!!

brilliant point mate <ok>

Sky is definitely an avenue for snooker to travel down, but could be a double edged sword in terms of the end product we get. For those not too fussy it will be great, cos the Hearn/Sky partnership will no doubt offer some spin offs.

Re: 2010/2011 Calendar Revealed!!!

Coverage on Sky would be great, you just know that. End to end coverage, loads of features, interviews, analysis etc etc. It's something snooker has been missing for years.

Re: 2010/2011 Calendar Revealed!!!

Postby Wildey

dont forget they wanted the WC if we can get them interested in that again the BBC Would not be the only avenue for that meaning they would have to buck up their ideas and if sky was interested the BBC Would not want to drop it.

I am just trying to work it thru in my head. What would be best for snooker and for snooker fans......... would hate to see snooker lost to the non-satellite TV populous but selfishly I want more snooker.

Would love to hear how committed BBC are to snooker...........

its a small point but very relevant - having the wrong front man and pundits can really devalue the product, so Sky would have to in my mind choose very carefully if they "went big on snooker" <ok>

at the moment the BBC has control they call the shots regarding everything so they can plead poverty so that they get snooker on the cheap but if another company gets involved things would change.

Re: 2010/2011 Calendar Revealed!!!

The Worlds should remain on BBC and from the Crucible if possible. Other than that everything else can go to Sky as far as I'm concerned because their coverage will be second to none.

ITV would be 3rd choice and a fair way back at the moment but they are showing some comitment to sport lately with ITV 4 but id rather not go there lol
