Postby roy142857

Entries and group draws have been made for the IBSF World Under 21 Snooker Championship 2012, which takes place in Wuxi, China from 14th to 22nd July. 8 players per group but I'm a little unsure how many through to the knock out stage (which commenced with a last 32 last year).

Entries from the British Isles are :

Group A
Duane Jones (Wales)
Hammad Miah (England)

Group B
David Cassidy (Ireland)

Group C
Mitchell Mann (England)

Group D
Karl Fitzpatrick (Ireland)
Kishan Hirani (Wales)

Group E
Jamie Clarke (Wales)

Group F
Ross Muir (Scotland)
Ryan Cronin (Ireland)

Group G
Rhys Clark (Scotland)

Group H
Oliver Lines (England)

Good luck to all of them.

Very swamped with my voluntary work at the moment, hence few posts ... but just a quick post now to highlight which players are doing well in each group:

Group A
Zhao Xintong of China and England's Hammad Miah unbeaten with 4 wins, Australia's Shaun Dalitz has 3 wins from 4 (lost 4 - 1 to Zhao Xintong)

Group B
Ireland's David Cassidy has 4 wins from 4, China's Lu Haotian 3 wins from 3 including a win over Thailand's Noppon Saengkham, he's only dropped one frame so far.

Group C
Chinese success here too, as Zhu Yinghui the only undefeated player (only 1 frame dropped). England's Mitchell Mann has still to play Zhu Yinghui. Mann has a loss against Muhammad Majid Ali of Pakistan, whose only defeat was against Zhu Yinghui (4-0)

Group D
Wales' Kishan Hirani is the only undefeated player, with two players on 3 wins from 4 - India's Himanshu Jain and Thailand's Ratchayothin Yotharuck (who lost to Hirani). Ireland's Karl Fitzpatrick is finding it tough going, having lost all 4 of his matches.

Group E
Again topped by a Welshman, this time Jamie Clarke, who has dropped 1 frame in 4 matches. Three players on 3 wins from 4 - China's Wang Yuchen, Thailand's Boonyarit Keattikun and Andreas Ploner of Austria. Ploner and Wang Yuchen have lost to Clarke, Keattikun lost to Wang Yuchen.

Group F
Ireland's Ryan Cronin tops the group with 3 wins from 4, but Scotland's Ross Muir and China's Zhou Yuelong each have 2 wins from 2 from the games they've played. Cronin's loss was against Zhou Yuelong.

Group G
Undefeated Lu Ning of China tops the group with 3 wins (and only 1 frame dropped), but there are also 2 undefeated players with 2 wins - Jurian Heusdens of Belgium and Alireza Khodaparast of Iran. Hunain Hunain of Pakistan (is that name really correct?) has 2 wins from 3. Scotland's Rhys Clark has yet to chalk up a win (he's played 3 - Lu Ning, Heusdens and Khodaparast, 4-3 losses to the last 2).

Group H
Tight at the top of this group as England's Oliver Lines and Thailand's Akani Songsermsawad each have won 4 of 4, and Kurt Brown of Australia and Chang Yu Kiu of Hong Kong have 3 wins and a loss (Brown to Songsermsawad and Chang Yu Kiu to Lines).

Just to note, having read the EGM report of the IBSF, it appears the tables for this Championship had overly-generous corner pockets and overly tight middle pockets. Complaints appear to have been received from players about it, and the Iranian delegate put forward a motion requesting that pocket sizes be made bigger for future Championships.

It appears the table fitters set up the tables without using the IBSF templates. They were the same tables that were used in Thailand for the 6 red championship and had been set up correctly for that. Partly in response to this, the IBSF have agreed to supply one official template free of cost to each national federation. The Iranian rep agreed to withdraw their motion until the November meeting at the IBSF World Championship in Egypt, when the issue would be looked at again.
