City of Melbourne Open 2012-Australian Goldfields Qualifier
The City of Melbourne Open is taking place this weekend.
The event is also a qualifier for the Australian Goldfields Pro Tour event, with two players qualifying and playing against the two lowest ranked players qualifying in Britain.
The two places go to, firstly, the highest placed Australian citizen. And secondly, to the highest placed Victorian. If a Victorian is the highest ranked Australian, then the second spot goes to the second ranked Victorian. If two players reach the same stage in the competition, the decider is their current place in the Australian rankings.
Obviously players like Vinnie Calabrese and Adrian Ridler are engaged elsewhere at Q School, but new pro Oceania Champion Ben Judge is competing, not sure if he's allowed to qualify for the Australian Goldfields this way or not ...
All the way to and including the semi-final is best of 5 frames
