African Snooker Championships 2012 - Live Streaming

Postby roy142857

The opening ceremonies for the All Africa Snooker Championships take place today in Johannesburg, South Africa. A big upgrade in the rewards for the event winners this year! (Last years winner of both events was Wael Talat of Egypt).

Participating countries are Egypt, Libya, Mauritius, Morocco, Mozambique, Sudan, Tanzania and of course South Africa (previously-banned ex-pro Peter Francisco is one of their players).

Action starts tomorrow with the commencement of the Six Reds Championship, which runs through to Tuesday and is a straight knock-out competition. The winner and runner-up from this event qualify for the Sangsom World Six Reds Championship being organised jointly by the WPBSA and IBSF, to be held in Bangkok from 2nd to 7th July.

The main All Africa Snooker Championship, with a spot on the Pro Tour at stake, starts on Tuesday evening with round robin groups. The knock-out stages start on Sunday 22nd April and the final will be on Tuesday 24th April.

I beat Pierre Jordan in Syria at the World Amateurs, he isn't a bad player. He might give Wael a decent game in the final predicting they both win.

A little problem with the updates today, so don't know the semi-final scores, only that Mohamed Khairy beat Wael Talaat and Mohamed Ibrahim beat Pierre Jordaan, both winners should be invited to the Six Reds World Championship.

Result from the final:

Mohamed Ibrahim (Egypt) 8 - 4 Mohamed Khairy (Egypt)

:win:
:D

The group stages of the main All Africa Snooker Championship commence this evening, earlier problems with live streaming look like they've been fixed but not sure - will post more details once I AM sure!

Well, the live streaming is working – all 8 tables. Nothing sophisticated, just a view of the table. The current group stage matches are all best of 5, pick of the matches today (using UK time):

11.30 a.m. Table 3 Yaser El Sherbiny (Egypt) v Nico Muller (South Africa)
2 p.m. Table 8 Kiashan Moodley (South Africa) v Peter Francisco (South Africa)
7 p.m. Table 2 Arjun Lavingia (Tanzania) v Momen Elansary (Egypt)
7 p.m. Table 4 Wael Talaat (Egypt) v Gerald McMaster (South Africa)

Streaming can be accessed from here:

... and a match that looks pretty good (leastways, in theory!) today:

4.30 pm UK time Table 2 Arjun Lavingia (Tanzania) v Johnny Sideratos (South Africa)

also might be worth a look, a couple more Egypt v South Africa battles:

4.30 pm UK time Table 3 Osama El Sharkawy (Egypt) v Pierre Jordaan (South Africa)

7 pm UK time Table 4 Mohamed Ibrahim (Egypt) v Iqshaan Alladin (South Africa)

This doesn't include today's results

In Group A Egypt's Wael Talaat has 3 wins out of 3 and South Africa's Andre du Toit has 2 wins out of 2, Khalil Hossen of Mauritius has lost once in 3 matches (to Talaat). Talaat and Du Toit were due to play this afternoon, Hossen and Du Toit play tomorrow.

Good for Egypt in Group B too, Yaser El Sherbiny with 3 wins from 3, Mustaffa El Dalli of Libya and Mina Samuel of Sudan on 2 wins from 3 although one of Samuel's wins appears to be a walkover of South Africa's Nico Muller. El Sherbiny and El Dalli were due to play this afternoon, Samuel and El Dalli are due to play tomorrow.

Two players are tied with 3 wins from 3 each in Group C, Egypt's Mohamed Ibrahim and South Africa's Iqshaan Alladin, Libya's Ayoub Matug has just one loss (to Alladin). Ibrahim and Alladin are playing NOW on table 4. Matug and Ibrahim play tomorrow.

(will add more group details later)

More groups.

The table for Group D doesn't look quite right, but as far as I can tell Fakhrie Gierdien of South Africa is the only undefeated player with 3 wins, and Saleem Moosa of Mauritius and Mohamed Noweir of Egypt both have a single defeat. Moosa and Gierdien played this afternoon, Moosa and Noweir play tomorrow.

Faaris Khan and Ricardo Tregoning, both of South Africa, are both undefeated with 3 wins in Group E. Egypt's Mohamed Khairy trails thanks to a loss to Khan. Khan and Tregonning played today, Khairy and Tregonning play tomorrow morning.

In Group F Libya's Khalad Abumdass is undefeated with 3 wins, but again the table doesn't look right, think there are results missing for Peter Francisco of South Africa, who is show having only played one match (a win against fellow South African Kiashan Moodley). Moodley and Farhad Sayfoo of Mauritius each have 2 wins and a loss. Abumdass and Francisco and Abumdass and Moodley were due to play today, Sayfoo and Moodley play tomorrow.

For Group G Johnny Sideratos and Munier Cassim of South Africa are both shown as undefeated, with 2 and 3 wins respectively, but the match they were due to play against each other on the first evening is missing from the table. Tanzania's Arjun Lavingia has just one loss, 2-3 against Cassim. Lavingia and Sideratos played this afternoon.

In Group H Pierre Jordaan of South Africa is the only undefeated player, with 3 wins. Mohamed Bava of Mozambique, JP Van Jaarsveld of South Africa and Iqshaan Stanfield of South Africa all have 2 wins and a loss (Bava lost to Stanfield, Van Jaarsveld lost to Bava, Stanfield lost to Jordaan). Egypt's Osama El Sharkawy has played 2 matches and lost both 2-3, to Bava and Van Jaarsveld. Van Jaarsveld and Stanfield played this morning, Jordaan and Bava this afternoon, Jordaan and Van Jaarsveld play tomorrow.

EDIT: Ought to have pointed out, most of these players will go through to the knock-out as there's a last 32 stage (on Sunday morning/afternoon), a lot of the results for the top players are therefore a matter of jockeying for position in the seeding for the knock out phase.

Talaat now on 5 wins from 5, Du Toit and Hossen both on 3 wins from 4, South Africa's Gerald McMaster on 2 wins from 4, and has DuToit and Hossen as his remaining games.

Yaser El Sherbiny now 4 wins from 5, South Africa's Rafique Limbada has 3 wins from 4, having beaten El Sherbiny 3-2. Mahomed Rafik of Mozambique and El Dalli all on 3 wins and 2 losses. Samuel plays El Dalli today, Rafik plays El Sherbiny. Limbada plays both Nico Muller and Johan van den Berg, who have one win between them.

Mohamed Ibrahim now has 5 wins from 5, Matug 4 wins from 5 and Alladin 3 wins from 4, with the Matug / Ibrahim match upcoming. Dean Changelryan and Mike Hines, both South Africans, have 2 wins and 2 losses each. They play each other and both play Alladin today.

Table now making more sense - Gierden and Mutalieb Alie of South Africa both undefeated with 4 wins and play each other today. Mohamed Noweir on 3 wins from 5 and due to play Saleem Moosa today who has 2 wins from 5. South Africa's Graeme Britten has 2 wins from 4 but has to play both Gierden and Alie today, Bradley Richards of South Africa has 1 win (3-2 against Moosa) from 5 matches but could go through by beating the weakest player in the group, Taher Kraima, if other matches fall his way.

Tregonning remains undefeated with 4 wins, Khan has 4 wins from 5 and Mohamed Khairy 3 wins from 4 with the match between Tregonning and Khairy upcoming. Alaeddin Wali of Libya looks good for the fourth place with 2 wins from 5 and a match against Zulfikar Luto of Mozambique to play, but if Luto wins he would overtake Wali on frame difference.

In Group F Libya's Khalad Abumdass is undefeated with 3 wins, but again the table doesn't look right, think there are results missing for Peter Francisco of South Africa, who is show having only played one match (a win against fellow South African Kiashan Moodley). Abumdass and Kiashan Moodley both have 4 wins and a loss. Despite a missing result, looks to me like Peter Francisco had 3 wins and a loss and is due to play Latchman Moodley and Mohammed Al Motiz - neither have won a match yet. Sayfoo has 3 wins and 2 losses, Bilal Elyas of Mozambique just 2 wins leaving him needing to beat Abumdass to overtake Sayfoo, who has to play Kiashan Moodley.

Tanzania's Arjun Lavingia has just one loss, 2-3 against Cassim. Lavingia and Sideratos played this afternoon.

In the 'missing match' Cassim had beaten Sideratos 3-1. Cassim is undefeated, Sideratos has 3 wins from 4 matches, Lavingia 3 wins from 5 matches and Osama Anga of Libya 2 wins from 5 matches. Lavingia and Anga play today. With only 1 win from 4 matches, the winner of the match between Momen El Ansary of Egypt and Cader Mahomed of Mauritius needs to win in style and/or not lose to heavily (or better, win) against Sideratos to potentially overtake Anga.

Jordaan continues in style, with 5 wins from 5 and only 3 dropped frames. Iqshaan Stanfield now has 3 wins from 4, whereas Bava and Van Jaarsveld have 3 wins from 5. Only Khaled Bakush of Libya could stop these 4 getting through (at least in theory) - he needs big wins against winless Osama El Sharkawy (who now has three 2-3 losses!) and Stanfield.

For the live streaming, tables 1 - 4 were supposed to be used (according to the schedule). However, looks to me like tables 3 - 6 are in use instead, so not sure which match where, work to do so no time to check I'm afraid ... as well as the live stream, current frame scores are being shown here :

http://www.sasnooker.co.za/index.php/li ... aw-results

Live streaming from here:

http://www.africabsf.com/sa2012.html

Semis (best of 9) this evening at 7pm our time, tables 1 and 2 according to the schedule ... Final tomorrow 11am our time, best of 11 frames for a place on the Pro Tour.

Quarter final results:

Wael Talaat 5 - 0 Ricardo Tregonning

Mohamed Khairy 5 - 3 Mutalieb Alie

Yaser El Sherbiny 5 - 2 Munier Cassim

Pierre Jordaan 4 - 5 Peter Francisco

So can Peter Francisco get back on the Pro Tour ... or will one of the Egyptians prevail?

Semi finals this evening - Talaat v Khairy (table 5) , El Sherbiny v Francisco (table 2)

Re: African Snooker Championships 2012 - Live Streaming

Postby roy142857

Sorry no updates last night, computer hard drive burnt out, on re-constituted back-up now ...

Semi finals

Wael Talaat 1 - 5 Mohamed Khairy

Yaser El Sherbiny 0 - 5 Peter Francisco

Will Peter Francisco make it back onto the Pro Tour? (Think I'd prefer to see an Egyptian player ...)

Final starts at 11 am our time, table 8 apparently.

Re: African Snooker Championships 2012 - Live Streaming

Postby roy142857

So Peter Francisco of South Africa wins the All Africa Snooker Championship and (presumably) will be invited on to the Pro Tour for the next year.

So next year maybe we can look forward to seeing him trying to lose his opening match at the Crucible 10-2 ...

... sorry, know that sounds churlish, but can't celebrate this.
