Aditya Mehta at Bombay 'Strokes' Snooker Open
The 'Strokes' Snooker Open presented by Bombay Gymkhana is taking place at the moment.
Breaks of 116 by Yasin Merchant, 113 by Sourav Kothari and 101 by Faizal Khan in the group stages. Aditya Mehta's matches for the groups were scheduled towards the end to allow him time to get there from Sheffield.
Mehta was slightly off form in his first match, but won it and was then largely untroubled in Group A, and similarly Kamal Chawla dominated Group B. Laxman Rawat had a close battle with Rovin D'Souza and Siddharth Parikh for the runner-up spot in Group B, each ending with 3 wins and 2 losses and Rawat taking it on frame difference. Sourav Kothari was the runner-up in Group A.
Faisal Khan just missed qualifying for the quarter finals despite beating his coach Yasin Merchant 3 - 2, his other results weren't good enough and Merchant and Manish Jain went through from Group D.
Also just missing out despite good performances was young player Pushpinder Singh, his defeat of experienced Devendra Joshi not quite enough to take him past Manan Chandra and Brijesh Damani in Group C.
Quarter finals (to be played tomorrow evening):
Kamal Chawla v Manish Jain
Sourav Kothari v Brijesh Damani
Yasin Merchant v Manan Chandra
Laxman Rawat v Aditya Mehta
