Republic of Ireland Tour

Postby roy142857

Just been having a look at the RIBSA website, and saw that Vincent Muldoon has taken Event 3 of the Senior Tour with a win over Rodney Goggins. Goggins (who won event two) remains the series leader. Mark Tuite had the high break with a 112.

Scores - from quarter-final stages on:

Rodney Goggins 4 Keith Sheldreck 1
Joe Delaney 4 Mark Tuite 0
Mark Sutton 4 Greg Casey 0
Vincent Muldoon 4 Brendan O'Donoghue 2

Rodney Goggins 4 Joe Delaney 2
Vincent Muldoon 4 John Sutton 0

Vincent Muldoon 5 Rodney Goggins 1

Rankings (top 10):

Rodney Goggins 370
Brendan O'Donoghue 310
Vincent Muldoon 290
John Sutton 280
Joe Delaney 260
Greg Casey 230
Robert Redmond 220
Keith Sheldreck 220
Jason Devaney 200
Mark Tuite 190

Points: 150 for a win, 120 for runner-up, 100 for semi final, 80 for quarter final, 60 for last 16, 40 for last 32, 30 for last 64.

I think there are 7 events, qualifying for a Championship (sorry, not sure!). A total of 106 players have competed in at least 1 event, 32 have competed in all events so far (which sounds a pretty healthy number).

Next event is at the Ivy Rooms, Carlow on 14th & 15th January.

The next Republic of Ireland Tour event is underway, sadly without a certain Mr McBride and his recalcitrant automobile ...

As John has mentioned elsewhere, already a 131 break from young Josh Boileau, he's up against Joe Delaney in the last 32 which is a tough draw for both. Karl Fitzpatrick, Dessie Sheehan, Vincent Muldoon (by walkover) , Phil Arnold, David Cassidy and Colm Gilchrest (who beat Ryan Cronin) amongst those safely through to the last 32. John Sutton, who's 4th in the rankings, lost 3-0 to Paul McGrane.

Edit - hadn't noticed, but 7th ranked Robert Redmond also lost, 2-3 to Joe Corrigan.

Other victors a t the last 64 stage included Rodney Goggins, Keith Sheldreck and Brendan O'Donoghue.

Goggins looks like he went straight on to his next match, beat Arthur Greer 3-0 to make the last 16, where he plays Brendan O'Brien (who beat Karl Fitzpatrick 3-1),

Others in the last 16 so far - Joe Devaney (beat Josh Boileau 3-1) plays TJ Dowling (who beat Dessie Sheehan 3-0); Johnny Williams; Vincent Muldoon, John Lynch, Phil Arnold, Greg Casey and Joe Corrigan.

Nice one Roy.

I was just checking the scores. I seen Josh got beat against Joe D. It's a weird one that because Joe is still practicing & Josh won't bother practicing.
I'm not surprised Joe Corrigan won. Joe is a solid player who is also putting the time in. Nice fella with it, always pleasant to me & could do very well & might surprise a few.

Vinny Muldoon is off to the US in the summer to work. He's got a job with a company on Wall Street. Shame really as Vinny is another talent. I would have liked to have played him today too.
Colm Gilcreest, who I know well, also got beat. Colm isn't playing, I know that for a fact otherwise he'd be texting me looking for a knock.

These are well run comps. The tables in the Ivy Rooms in carlow, where this one is being played, have really tight pockets so it's always a good test. I just try to remind myself when playing on them that every pocket has a middle to them no matter what the size. Just finding the middle of the pocket is my trouble. :-)

Nice post Roy. With a little bit of luck you'll be writing my name up on here over the next couple of months. Just gotta get me car fixed first & get back out on the road.

Keep Well.
