Frankly the wildcard round should be scrapped, certainly in China. The original goal was to promote local talents. China is well past the stage where this is needed. It's unfair on the qualifiers who have earned their spot and are asked to win another match before getting to the business end of the tourney. Especially as some wildcards are real local amateurs, but others are former pros… and they won't be jet-lagged.

I think they should give a wildcard to Paul Young's daughter:
Lynn Young!

waste of a day of the tourny
Wales lasts 7 days and only featues 32 players + 2 last qualifying matches YET the format goes to best of 7
and China also lasts 7 days features 32 players + 8 wildcard matches yet best of 9 still exists here

Yes but not all on telly. Which makes a difference for the players sponsoring and is unfair to those who are set on "outside" tables.

True, it's a no win situation for those that have to play against Wildcards. Maybe the two two juniors in the China rankers could get to play against each other on the match table and TV - that would be much better than the current set up.

Going by the sportstats infos on WSA, Ali Carter has withdrawn also. Not surprisingly. Ali's health has been very, very bad over the last year and his health should come first.

Really Monique? yeah, not surprising at all, given his recent health condition.. and this just goes to emphasise the fact that he´ll probably retire from snooker after the season is over...
A very good player, we´ll miss him. Wish him all the best for the future.

Yeah, he´ll drop down the rankings pretty fast, and honestly couldnt see a way back for him if he decided to carry on, which I believe he wont do anyway.... A good snooker career he had, 2 rankers not bad, could have achieved more given his ability, but we could say that about other players as well, and his health didnt help matters of course.

Just came back from school and heard about Ali.
Shame about his health and his retirement at the the end the season is looking more likely now, unlike Ronnie's 'retirement' every few weeks.

I must confess, I did watch them both.
I have the He-Man and She-Ra animated movie The Secret Of The Sword on DVD at home.
I recommend it.

Hyde turns up at the venues more often than Jekyll, you must admit.

I Hendry looked solid against Allen until he lost the second frame having Allen needing a snooker.
